Hey guys. I've got a pretty difficult question, so I hope someone here can help me out. I'm trying to make a flying unit that has multiple attacks. Think of it like the Leviathan, except instead of it having a bunch of tentacles in the front of the unit, there are four separate cannons; two on each side of the flying Zepplin.
There are a few problems I'm running into. First, I need to reduce the search area to 90 degrees so that each cannon can only fire in front of itself. Second, the Leviathan attack doesn't seen to work on its own, which makes it hard to duplicate.
If anyone is up to the challenge in helping me create this unit, I would be extremely grateful. Your help will not go overlooked.
The Leviathan is probably a very bad example to work from, considering the bunch of tentacles it's based on. Having multiple weapons firing at the same time is easy, or alternatively a single "weapon" doing multiple searches/launches.
Having each cannon only fire in front of itself is a very tricky one. Doing a front 90 degrees is easy, so is a back 90 degrees. For the sides, I can only think of a search that would return results from 90 degrees but on both sides at once...
Strafing weapon with dummy damage and a behavior that operates while attacking. The behavior has a 3 second period persistent that has an initial effect and 2 periodic effects of off-set persistent launch searches to either side of the unit.
firing to the sides is easy, just use a search area of 270 degrees that excludes a search area effect targets of 90 degrees to the front. Leviathan tentacle weapon is only a visual one, a behaviour actually controls the tentacle attacks. You could also use Create Persistent or Launch Missule effects to determine the direction of the launch value so the angle is directed from the sides. Or just exclude the targets of an independent search offset to the one side.

we pretty much want it to turn to 90 degrees when you tell it to attack something too
