So with that, to the exercise!
Weekly Data Exercise #25
All right, so this week I want to see what you have been working on, It can be absolutely anything data related, so for this exercise there is no restriction, show me what you have been up to!
Maybe you have something you can't quite perfect and want some advice on? Easy post it up here.
Something small but felt like it was a huge achievement? Awesome lets see it.
Or maybe something epic but you map isn't released so nobody has seen it yet, Why not give us a sneak peak!

Beta Keys
- To be eligible for a Beta Key, you need to release a map copy of the Unit/Ability/Effect...Thing :P you are showcasing.
- Winners will be selected by the mod team and will be announced on the 22nd of December, Submissions will close on the 19th, giving the mods time to choose
- If you really want to enter but are completely out of ideas, now would be a good time to offer your services in the data editor and make something for somebody else and show us all here
22nd of December? thats a bit late aye? Remember this game comes out in early march, that means only 1 1/2- 2 months of play, could you maybe shorten this to like the 12th? I mean 1 week should be enough.
i already have a key, but I am just saying this well take a lot of the time the winner would have to play the beta.
pretty much anything data related if its just for this contest could be completed in a 1 week time frame i would imagine anyways.
2 months of play on a beta is quite a long time. Shortening this by a week is not really going to change anything but put pressure on people and I don't think that is wise at this time of year.
Hey guys, want to make an entry :) Here are two abilities (Meteor Rain, Tempest) and one Siege Weapon which i think looks cool. Check them out. Sorry, but i have no video, only screens and map :(

Oh well, here come the archives of some of my better works.
1. A multiple unit compatible Merge ability simulation. Even robust against mad dog clicking to a large degree and can use uneven mixes of units.
2. A Harvest ability simulation (work in progress) able to interrupt harvesting for a fraction of resources and be used for intermediate resources in a tree of manufacture. Third means of building related (as opposed to unit related) command system still needs full implementation
3. The famous autoharvester from the community project. Uses a dated method of boom extension (see walker for latest method). Still looks good unless patch 1.5 broke it again.
4. My walker prototype for terratron like visual hanging when perfected. Contains a robust rotation sensor and novel acor system based off lurker spines and hellion beam. Not yet beta but will be once I fix issue of walking over cliffs/rough terrain (create persistent and mover issue, any ideas/solutions?).
5. My symbiote test map (work in progress) for commensal and parasitic items that can give boosts to the holding unit based on item level. Approx 33% complete. Commensal items/units need permission from the host to bond with them while parasites will not. Also might throw in breeding items within inventories if possible.
6. My mighty zerg gate that only lets zerg pass through. Simple but cool and only use of sunken colony missile impact model that I know of.
No. 7 is not worth showing yet. 75% done but needs visuals before it is a demo map. Is doodads that follow movement of units within an area like classic portraits/statues with eyes/heads that follow you. Currently at proof on concept stage.
So for some unbeknown reason my video software won't create a video of my footage for you... :(
But the abilities them selves are pretty cool.
The Protoss Hybrid, I quite like the ability's visual affects and I think it was well done.
The Meteor strike was also well done, I like the stun and burn dot addition
But the Dark Templar move, I am not a fan of, main reason being that it has a set path, it would be better if the electrical forks were a bit more randomized
Here was a map I was working on a long time ago, that I never finished.
Maybe some people will find parts of it useful.
The major pieces of it were the Mouse controlled Turret/fire with Right Click, a somewhat collision detection on the projectile, and WASD controlled tank movement. Also the movement and fire doesnt work at the moment, so you have to stop to fire.
The idea of the game was going to be the Tron Tank game, but I got distracted by school and other games.
I'd just like to comment that this data exercise has already provided some useful product as I have to give abvdzh some props for the meteor ability; its extremely similar to something i was looking for and has made solid base for me to learn to make my own ability since im new to the data editor.
Also any word on if there is a trigger excercise for the hots keys?
Sorry, maybe its just me but i only see the latest excerise which is a monthly for a quest system, plus the home page only mentions an data and terraining.
I'd look to do a trigger library for a portal system but i don't think it counts.
Abvdzh has some pretty pretty pics that drew me in. :) It just happened to be that his ability was sooo perfect for what i needed; granted imma take a look at that zerg gate as i might work well for a dual level bridge system of mine.
Well nevjmac are you sure you talking about dark templar because i realy have custom done dark templar unit in my sandbox map which i just didn't place on terrain. It calls Black Hali. You can find him in my map and test it. It looks pretty cool too i think. But if you were talking about High Templar Tempest abil, this lighting forks are randomized slightly, because they use random point in a circle site operation actors. But yes they has some restricted path. Rly appreciate your feedback guys :D
Decided to add this dark templar on map. Tell me your opinions. Just attack some unit with him and start running from him with that unit.
1. Psionic Overload (Immortal): The Immortal overcharge his Hardened Shields dealing massive damage to everything in range.
2. Fire Wave (Tassadar): Deals 10 damage per unit space and burns for 2 damage per second for 5 seconds after.
(Each grid square/unit space takes 10 damage, so if the unit is running while being hit, as it runs with the fire it will keep taking damage)
3. Psi Zone (Immortal): Charges up then releases a burst creating a field of psionic energy healing allies and damaging enemies. (Not attached because it is part of a large project I am working on, If needed I will send it ot the judges, if someone needs this in an Asset, or any other one of the abilities, let me know via PM)
