how can i order an interceptor to return to the hangar?
i want the unit to follow and attack one unit and then return to its hangar despite that there are other enemies.
any ideas?
It is how the arm magazine ability works for internal ammo units. They are automatically ordered to attack the target of the weapon of the host unit and only return if the host unit is not attacking/has the weapons and/or attack abilitydisabled.
Your best bet is to get the weapon of the ammo unit to apply a buff to the interceptor that then disables the attack ability of the unit so it is forced to return.

I don't have a direct answer but I'll share what I know of magazines.
It's possible to order arm magazine units to follow other orders, by a behavior or by linking an effect to the magazine ability's "launch". As the unit is launched, the ability's launch effect is executed before the ability-supplied order to attack the main target (overriding any orders given), but you can issue any order to the magazine unit later on (delay of 0.0625 or behavior-based). If the magazine ability's "retarget" flag is set however, they will receive new orders whenever the launching unit's attack target changes.
So... it's possible to control/prevent orders being issued to the magazine units, but I just don't think there's a way to send an order "return to magazine unit". As DrSuperEvil suggested, disabling the attack ability is probably your best bet.
If you remove the "retarget" flag from the magazine ability, they won't receive any new order (besides the initial attack order) to cancel new orders issued by data.
thx for your ideas but i wasn't able to bring any of it to life.
instead i tried something totally different. there is one condition that can be set up for returning inside the hangar ability. it's based on hp left of the ammo unit. so i was adding a buff to the attack of the ammo unit which damages the ammo unit if the target dies.
now it always returns first before attacking a new target.

Nope they need a Create Persistent with a constant Issue Order to do anything else. You can give them orders but it is alot of work.
