I am trying to use button references but nothing comes up when I select my custom effects. The default effects and values work just not my custom ones. any ideas why?
I encountered this problem and the only solution I found was to edit the text with the text editor.
The easiest way to do this is by clicking the edit button next to show style controls while you are editing the text and then insert the data reference through that section. For some reason you can not do this in the data editor, but the text editor has no issue getting values from custom effect/ behaviours/ units etc.
One thing I should point out is that if you haven't written anything in the field yet, you cant open it in the text editor. To fix this, just write anything in it and click OK. Open the field details up again and the edit button should work.

Thanks works a treat =D
what I do is I just take a blizzard made effect, insert the reference from there, and then just change the ID to my own effect :)
