I'm trying to look up effects and abilities, But I can't seem to understand how blizzard created the replicant's ability.
I'd also like to know how to create hallucinations based off target units (Like SC1) rather than a pre-set menu.
@Quirriff: Go
Create units effects now seem to have the field "Effect: Type Fallback Unit". This specifies the unit whose unit type will be the one created, assuming that the "Effect: Spawn Unit" field is set to none.
So I would guess you would want to set 'Type Fallback Unit' to Target, keep 'Spawn Unit' set to None, and set your 'Effect - Spawn' to an effect that applies your hallucinationness behavior.
@intanjir: Go Apparently that field only works if set to caster right now. So in theory it could work if the effect sets the caster location to target unit. I'm not 100% sure, it needs more testing.
I think that Moship cores are intended to not turn toward their targets.
If you want to use it with the Moship core then you should just set the Arc for the Clone Ability to 360.
Looking at how the clone ability works, it uses the Create Unit Effect with the Fallback Set to Target as I suggested.
I am unsure what was preventing you guys from having it work before, I tried resetting all the other fields to defaults and it still worked.

I guess both requests are actually quite similar.

Didn't work ;'(
thanks for the help though.

Good news for you: the replicant's ability is in the editor and it works perfectly, check the 'Clone' ability. It even has a button with a nice icon.
Regarding the 'Clone' ability:
I tried using it on a clone of the Mothership Core.
It comes up with an error, for some reason it requires a unit to turn and gives an error as if it can't even though the unit I tested it on can move.

@Quirriff: Go As intanjir said the Mothership Core does't turn, and that's the source of the error. I gave the ability to a drone and it worked.
@intanjir: Go Maybe they fixed it in a recent patch? I tried using this system for SC1 hallucination but it didn't work.
You can simply set the Mothership Core's Unit Flags to Turnable.
