I was wanting to know if anyone has figured this out, I would prefer for it to be done in the Data Editor. The idea is somewhat similar to marines and them getting there shield based off an upgrade, however I would like to add weapons to a model based on which weapon they have on them. Ideally it would also be nice to see if it is possible to add effects to an attached model, such as if my model was shooting to have the muzzle flash appear from the gun that is attached to them since it has an attachment point for it. I am trying to figure this out but I was just wanting to know if anyone else had any ideas.

Quite easy as long as your unit model has the right animations and no weapons. Just set the host subject of your action actors to the weapon model.

What do you mean by host subject? I see a bunch of stuff related to hosting but nothing about a subject.
It is easier if you make different models with animations and weapons, and make your unit actually switch models when switching weapons.
