I have completely lost my zergling entirely from the data editor. There are really screwed up versions of it that won't delete. I have tried setting it to it's parent but it gives me generic crap. Why can't there be an easy anti-fuck up button? This is agitating me to the point of screaming.
You need to delete the actors you modified as well as the models and units
Just delete all the green zerglings you made under each of those menu options
select your map as data source and only modified units will show up.
Yeah.. I ended up modifying the base zergling.. Of course that meant that the ID stayed Zergling but the name was different. I also edited the damage, kill experience, loot, etc. The thing is.. I ended up duplicating and fooling around with the "Zergling" so many times it bugged out on me and I think I deleted the original if that is at all possible. When I clicked on the set to parent thing it gave my "zergling" the roach attack. I went to weapons and then gave it the zergling claws attack and it still kept actors for everything.. on top of that the zergling claws (damage) was missing. I was tearing my hair out. I would hate to give up on my map because I have put a LOT of hours into it. I am almost ready to send it to someone to have them "remake" my initial zergling for me..

Hey I don't know if this will help but maybe this might help you get your base zergling back, try reloading the dependencies for the map.
Under File where it says dependencies, shuffle those around with the arrows and then hit ok, save the map, close it, and try reopening it.
I've only noticed that sometimes when I set the dependencies for the campaign units, sometimes when i load up the map they don't appear in the editor even though their dependencies are enabled, when I shuffle them around they show up, but yeah I think it's kind of retarded that this editor makes it so easy to screw over a project like this.
Maybe after you shuffle the dependencies it will let you reset it to it's original Zergling form.
Though, I'm not sure if this screws over the map or anything, so save a backup before trying it, I don't want you losing all your progress because of this.
Zack that helped get the Unit back to the original and it didn't screw up my map in ways that I cannot fix. The problem is, it is still showing the Roach - Claws for the weapon. So I went to the weapon tab and searched for claws. What showed up (that is of any interest) is that the claws in question were able to be set back to Roach - Claws but now I have zergling claws 2 and 3. I will show you the zergling - claws2 and not 3 because the zergling - claws3 has LESS info to give and I think that one is for sure one to be deleted. Here is what I see:
You could try deleting your registry, Changing all options back to default
Help! I crashed! What do I do?

If the Editor crashes on startup, try the following:
Delete the "Recent Directory" registry key:
\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\StarCraft II Editor\Recent Files\Recent Directory - Open and Save Documents
If that's not enough, delete the entire "Recent Files" registry folder:
\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\StarCraft II Editor\Recent Files\
And if that still doesn't fix it, delete the entire StarCraft II Editor registry folder: (This will reset all your editor preferences to default though.)
\Registry\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\StarCraft II Edior\
wowow totally different problem here, dont go doing that now haha.
Everything said above (other than messing with your registry) is what You should do,
Also, setting everything back to parent but right clicking will set everything back to the data default for that actor/unit/model...ect

It's not actually possible to modify the base game data in the editor so I can't figure out what the hell you did here.
Literally the editor is incapable of modifying the Core.mod, Liberty.mod, etc. files where the base game data is. If your base data was indeed changed then you'd be unable to play online.
lol don't worry I am not going to mess with my registry.
@Riley Yeah I am just at a loss as to why I cannot get things back to normal. I have switched dependencies and also "set to parent" on everything related to the zergling. I think I will just keep trying ever so often when I have regained some sanity and feel like losing it some more. I appreciate all of your serious replies. I am just at a loss :|
Messing with the registry helped me out tons of times actually , Aslong as you know what your doing, nothing can go wrong. Then again, i wasnt sure it would solve your problem, like i said,
To clarify this is all occuring within one map? If you create a brand new map, the issue isn't there?
I actually ran into a bug kind of like this in beta although I thought it was fixed. If it's the same bug what happens is the editor fails to delete the overwritten object (thus restoring it to the default) but thinks it has. You can fix it by editing the XML manually, you'll have to open up UnitData.Xml and delete the offending entry.
If it's happening on new maps you create then I'm at a loss because I didn't think that was possible.
I closed that particular custom map, I started up a new map entirely.. If it is set to custom it messes up. If I set it to Melee it is set back to the original data. I copied the "effects" field for the Zergling. I opened up my custom map and went to the effects section and pasted it. It pasted it as Roach - Claws (damage). LOL. Would anyone be willing to accept my map and undo my fubar or at least attempt to fix it? I think somehow through duplicating units and changing their weapons around I really effed a particular Core file up and I am not sure what one at this point.
My last idea if you still haven't fixed this, it may be timely but you could try reinstalling starcraft 2, this could reinstall the editor as well. Maybe even though you didn't edit the core game data, maybe the editors data got f'd up in some way, perhaps if you reinstall the game the editor will fix itself.
But then again not really sure whats going on there either, thats just another idea to try, reinstalling doesn't delete your maps so the only thing it will do is just consume a bit of your time with the reinstallation.
As for the registry idea, reinstalling should basically do the same thing, except it's easier and less prone to screw ups.
Sadly, CTRL + Z was neutered in the galaxy editor, it doesn't fix EVERY change you make, I've encountered problems where CTRL + Z leaves the issue there still.

The editor is still kinda buggy - restart the editor, restart your computer from time to time.
