Wooo. This should be pretty awesome. I really think this is a very simple one to participate in and will be incredibly fun to work on. This will not be a normal MCE. This will be a group event. Our goal is to create an entire game out of this. It won't be a long or very big game but it will be fun and interesting to play. Now you might be wondering, "How can you incorporate so many cutscenes into one game?" Well fairly simply actually in fact allow me to show you a quick demo of what this will look like in the end.
Impressive right? The idea of the game is to solve a full length maze and survive its perils. Each person will need to create anywhere from 1 to 8 encounter cutscenes for this to work. The cutscenes can be as simple as the one in the demo video (or even simpler) or you could make it as complex as you want (within reason of course). You MUST use the Cutscene editor for this to work correctly with how I have setup the triggers.
Directions
The first step is to pick a location ( i.e. Region 1-A or Region 3-C) and post which one you will be working on. Try to have a maximum of 2 cutscene encounters per area, if you can make it work with more go ahead. Region 4-A and 4-C I will be covering myself. From their you will download the map provided below, which was created for us by Gorezug (Ickyness) and begin working on your cutscene encounters. Each "encounter" is a set of 1-3 cutscenes in battle with the monster of your choice. Each encounter choice must include the following, a chosen energy cost (Please list this somewhere max energy is 25), A set amount of damage done to the hero (again please list this and the max health is 100), and should end with the defeat of the monster. Finally post your cutscenes here for me to add them to the final piece.
I realize the video I have might not be the best representation, but it's slightly old and I'm still finalizing the kinks. Not to mention I despise triggering and am not the best at it. However if you have any questions or suggestions please pm me or post below.
Same. So all we do is look at the map and decide on a region or 2 to make a Cutscene encounter? I'm guessing for your encounter the attacks are just cutscenes right with the buttons triggering them? So each battle would end after the same amount of attacks no matter which moves are used?
Sounds like a cool idea, but I currently have no experience in the cut scene editor. Hopefully I'll get around to learning it, as it could make for some cool single player map stuff :)
I'm gonna extend this a month in hope of extra participation. I really want to see at least 1 or 2 entries here. I put more time into this than I would like to admit.
I think it's safe to say that this is probably going to be the last MCE as there is literally 0 participation. It's not that hard. It would take maybe 30 minutes to make 1 encounter minimum.
There are a lot of us NOBS in here wondering how to start doing what you guys do with the cut scene editor, perhaps you should start an adoptin forum for us new kids that want to be in block with you the masters of the editor. There's forum and treads but nothing like skyping or live chats or let just show you. There's no one on one with this cut scene?
I'd suggest first checking out Blizzard's documentation on the CSE. There's a very useful page that gives plenty of information as well as a video tutorial that covers most main points of the editor. I wouldn't mind doing a screen-share showing of the editor but there I won't do live chat, just messaging. Please continue this line of thought in another thread.
Your idea is very interesting, but people doesn't have time for that. I also tried an exercise with animations on blender, which is very easy, but nobody takes interest about that. Maybe we'll get a boost when lotv will be released...

Add Ideas Here At The Weekly Cinematic Exercise: Info and Idea Thread
Damnit i wish i would have any experience with the cutscene editor :/ ... Such a cool idea :D Hopefully we get enough people participating!
This looks super fun.

100% accurate you are. Don't forget to post the sections you're doing.
Another thought, people should post what the encounter is going to be as well so that we don't have 2 of the same encounter.
I'm kind of confused as to how this works. I create different cutscenes that you play via triggers?
I'm still very green on the whole "game-part" of the game editor.
So I need to plan out a "choose your own adventure" battle and save each scenario as a cutscene? How is it put together?
@Spoolofwhool: Go
Agreed that's a good I idea.
@Bijan641: Go
Yes that's correct. You don't really need to worry about how I put it together. But if you must know I made a number of action definitions for it.
@SCFF: Go
You don't need much to do this. Honestly as long as a ghost shoots something its good.
On a side note if no one participates in this I'm gonna cry...

This map's got enough spots for at least 10-15 good boss fights.

Yea I'd have no issue writing tutorials and stuff but there doesn't seem to be any real interest in the CE.
So like a year later... Anyone wanna continue this? Would be super cool.

Perhaps... Was always a shame as this was such an awesome freaking idea. It was really refined to I mean I worked my butt off on this.
Was a good idea, thank you for having tried it <3
