I'm unsure if this is the right sub forum to ask this, but how does total imported file size affect loading times? In other words, how many MB can you put in before it makes a significant change to the load time?
edit: I tested this with a 22 MB file of models and textures via the test document function, and 44 MB file with the same setup. They both took the same amount of time, down to the second. Go figure.
edit2: I tested online with 2 accounts from the same network, with 22 MB and 50 MB, and the difference was about 3 seconds.
Well, then I would think that the impact is rather marginal, the online loading time will take somewhat longer because of the connection speed, and the test document function only relies on your machine it seems. This would be the conclusion I'd draw based on your info.
I been working in the protoss faction’s retextures, and each full protoss Fact. is around 150 to 170 Mb.
After all Factions been finished. I’m planning to upload the Full Protoss Mode, then user can add in their maps and with one single click Example: research Shakuras the Whole Selected player will be changed to Shakuras textures and colours including console and mouse effects warp INS ext.
So,, this is my plan.
After uploaded I believe will be no problem if player have selected the mode to Add in their Map.
