@Leruster: Go That's what I wanted to hear. I feel the opensource tools will still be needed and used so you guys will have some hard work to do in order to use the new info Startools will bring to our tables.
You're one of the most needed in this closed test! Your participation will help the whole modelling community. Keep us informed!
Just signed up. I hope it's ok for people who haven't actually created something brand new to signup for it. It's got me nervous even thinking about the chance to do a closed beta test for something this important lol.
Hey man there is a lot of pressure and everyone else signing up looks like they have waaaaaay more experience than me :)
I'm really interested in seeing what we are dealing with here I doubt it'll just be an importer/exporter. I think it'll have more interesting tools added to it.
What I think about the StarTools beta is that those provided source models are for showing how their files actually look like before hitting the export button in 3ds max. And I think the limitation to a few models of this kind is just for beta purposes, the full release should not have any restrictions with the import/export of models.
I hope I am getting a key, because I am just planning a whole new project with many custom models, and I definately need reliable tools to get started with animations and so on. Right now it's just a pain the ass to pump out enough models in accurate time...
Hey all! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that the 2.0.3 HotS Beta patch going live today is the version we require to release the SC2 Art Tools Beta. That said, we'll begin contacting those who opted in starting next week with instructions on how to access the tools.

by the amount of signups i doubt anyone will have trouble getting in. unless they are aiming towards a 20 person beta.
aside from that i doubt theres any way to DRM the tools, they will be available to all if just one person leaks a link/reuploads.
