Very nice, only crit at this point is it appears the scale of some of your geometry in the middle is a bit small. You've got a lot of polys for bits of wires and weapons no one's really going to see. I also think it'd look a bit better if the legs spread a bit to form more of an X like a dragoon.
If this were for sc2 I would agree. But the Spiderbot specifically is for a UDK project; you'll be seeing it up and close a lot, so it needs to be relatively high detail (currently 13k poly).
The legs aren't posed or anything yet. The idle stance would indeed be similar to a Dragoon for stability.

I've not attempted a mechanical unit since my two units in Maya back in 2008. This is very much a work in progress.
