Ugh. And to think that I told myself "If the topic content is as vague as the topic title itself I'll kill myself"
But anyway, I'll give it a shot.
Since Blizzard hasn't released their art tools the only way to get your model into SC2 is by exporting it via the 3ds Max .m3 plug ins which you can download from our Assets. This means that you WILL need 3ds max, or someone who's willing to export your models.
This is the point where you question yourself this: Do I have $3,495USD to buy a 3ds Max license for just making SC2 models?, do I lack enough moral to just pirate it?, do I have any friends with 3ds max that would convert models for me?
After having the you-not-having 3ds Max problem we're off to asking, Can I model? Which I'll just assume you don't which gets you to ask now, Do I have a couple of spare months to fully dedicate my time to learning 3D modeling or maybe even years?
With all the variables considered, assuming you got 3ds max, have time to learn, have the m3 exporting tools and a 3d modeling application (obviously 3ds max is one of them but you can model in something else and export to 3ds max to export to sc2) all you have to do now is, ta-da! learn to model!
Which basically no one in here will actually teach you, not because we do not want to but because it's not an easy task to simply teach. You can try the 3ds max tutorials that come with said program, that have worked out for me, or simply just read the online version of them here: http://download.autodesk.com/us/3dsmax/2012tutorials/ or you can just try a simple google search which will get you tooooons, literally toooons of sites where you can learn a few stuff or two, or you can also try youtube if you're into videos more than text tutorials.

Thanks man, andI actually have a copy of the unity game engine.
Next dumb question: I downloaded a couple of models(Kerrigan ghost and General something or another) and can't get them to work. I went through and tried to import them and everything. Any suggestions there?
On a lighter note, I tend to be very vague initally, but then go into detail further on.
uh... I don't think one can rip models with the unity engine... I don't know, It's been so long since I've poked it but it was just not how it worked :P
To me it seems like he's trying to put SC2 models into unity engine. Which is something we can't obviously help him with ;o
On another note being vague doesn't really help us...help you? If you make a vague question you'll obviously be getting a vague answer... hence our confusion with this unity crap.
I have 3ds max too.. I'm sure you saw my post in general chat.. just got the program not even an hour ago and I am terrified lol
Welcome to the team Sarges.. Good to see you stretching your knowledge.
I understand what you're saying about the vague questions. So let me clarify from my other posts, if you havent seen my 20 million related to dark toss already... My dark toss units are pink as of now.. and I think perhaps I have to take the units/files ive downloaded from this website and some how convert them? or merge them? into one...
Sucks that the Drak Protoss upgrade only works enough to tease you and give you in imperfect race.. most dark some light. So to make it seamless, the upgrade teased me into learning this model stuff. Now instead of something that should have taken 5 minutes maybe less.. is gonna take me 5 days maybe more...
Would some please give me some direction on how to make new models?

...what?
I'm confused, what does the unity engine have anything to do in here. This is a SC2 forum and the unity engine isn't even a modeling application >.>

Simple if he has the unity game engine he can rip models, Im guessing thats what hes thinking...
