I'm seeing a lack of proper looking civilians for a city landscape. The colonist models and civilian models both male and female are ugly just like the warcraft 3 male villagers. I dont know if Blizzard made it on purpose but im not seeing any new models of civilians that dont look like thugs who just escaped New Folsom (not speaking of the Spectre prisoners). Are there any? For a 3rd person camera look it is really annoying to see the current models.
I am checking models on turbosquid for temp use like this one or that.
Also what about a generic male model with basic clothing that can be changed by modifying a texture for different variations and with attachment points. These are ideas if anyone thinks of having better models but if I also use these models and need applying the animation or materials when exporting to a SC2 model, I will use this thread to ask.
They are but still better than the colonist models. Speaking of which, I successfully exported to m3 the male model but the model is facing the X axis instead of Y axis.
Can anyone fix this if it is something 5-10 min of your time? The reason why the model is rotated is the Modifier Skins>Envelope that contain the skeleton rig. It is above the Editable Mesh and if I deleted it, the model would rotate back to as it has to be, Front is his front side. The skeleton is facing the wrong direction because of the modifier.
Thanks, I could use them... in the future, before trying to adapt somth off sc2. But for now it was decided that this model would be the one i will use. EDIT~ Fixed by making a dummy object at the origin, select the root object called Character01 (above the Pelvis in hierarchy), Select and Link, select the root object and then press H to find the object to link to and select it to link the root object to the dummy object. The dummy object will become the parent of that object and then can be rotated and the animation rig will be rotated with it. (to apply existing rig that is animated to a new imported model, create a skin modifier to the imported model and in Envelopes click 'add' to all the bones that are already in Envelope of the model to be replaced)
Sorry but can anyone do an animation transfer to this model I attached on the top post and completely remove the current rig as it is messed up? I need Civilian animation on it, or any that would fit. Or fixing this one, just pls dont mess up coordinates of texture mapping and materials or the mesh. Anything animation/bones can be removed.
Well, i don't know about you guys but... I can edit the standard civilian model for your to use for your project.... But it will have the standard attack animation...

I personally think those models are super ugly.

I once redid the basic male model from SC2, or at least the head, cause it sucked:

Btw, don't use envelopes, they are nasty to work with, use the weight tool, check my tutorials on how to do that.
