I have a model in the SC2MOD for a project I'm working on.
It looks fine in the editor, shows up with textures and whatnot but in game a sphere with the generic keyboard texture.
If you created a mod, do you have that mod added into the map's dependencies?
The sphere usually happens when the game can't find the model. This is usually an error with pathing, either the wrong path is used or something is not being added correctly.
Another possible issue is simply the editor reacting to any changes you make to the game. Often times when I get those weird model sphere errors in the editor, I restart the editor and reload my map to see if it persists.
I would also suggest testing a model swap with an existing model (something already in SC2, like scv or zealot etc) to make sure the problem isn't with the unit itself.
There is an error in path yes. As Triceron said. So find where is the error. It might be in dependencies or it might be in model itself.
What you should do is to take some simple model. Texture a box, with one color, red lets say. And test with that.
Currently you only can fix the problem by importing the model/image/whatever also into the map you want to use it in. Also, make sure import paths and names are the same in map & mod!
you cannot use imported files in a mod through a map. these files need to be imported into the map if you want to use them
blizzard have said they are trying to fix this.

This is a known bug. Last I heard blizzard was looking into fixing it.
