As a part of my attempts to make tutorials on SC2 graphics and modeling I'm going to be joining the guys at SC2Streamster, I will still be making tutorials my own way (uploading them to youtube and such) Probably they're just going to be re-records of the streams as streams are usually veryyy low quality.
In these streams I'll try to cover some techniques on modeling, the point of these is that you DO NOT need to know anything about modeling, most likely I'll be teaching you from the very bottom.
The point of this topic is for you guys to suggest any topics of your interests so I can have a program schedule on good do-able 1 hour topics (Don't know if I actually have more time than 1 hour in the streams).
So the first one will be tomorrow? Will it be a stream or just youtube?
I think milk carton is a good idea since you plan to go over everything. Maybe next week or this week if you want can you go over how to model a human bipedal with clothes and stuff and how to rig and animate. That's all I really need, is to learn how to rig an animate so I can start making some progress.
Consider this a shameless plug towards a good friend of mine who recently landed his dream job in the VFX/CGI industry.
He was redundant for four months and spent his time creating various tutorials, and, Corbo, sorry to jump in like this. This tutorial will teach people everything they need to know about modelling, stitching, retopology, sculpting, unwrapping and texturing - for low poly game assets.
I've been using 3DS Max for nearly a year now and 90% of what I know I can attribute to this one tutorial.
Edit: On reading this again, sorry Corbo :3. I just want more people to create custom content for SC2 modding. I personally would request rigging and animation for one of your 'modelling mondays'. As it is an area I still need to learn :p
Don't have to apologize, we both want the same thing ;o
At first glance looks like a very awesome tutorial, I personally owe everything I know about max to 3ds MAX 2008's tutorials, they were so good, but every since 2010's they've sucked so bad :P
Still, I know people can just check tutorials online but what I'm planning to do is actually applying them to SC2 making them specific. Sometimes people can get lost in between the process of creation and actual real implementation or just not find good references at all, which is why I am openly asking topics or else I'm just going to follow my schedule if there's no topics to cover ;o
Will you go over how to make a unit model and doodad models? Also if I have a model that was made in pieces how do I put them together and then rig and animate it? It's a Link model where there are a bunch of pieces.
Bringing it all together, model, uvw coordinates, texture
Implementing your model in SC2 Map Editor
You'll be needing 3ds MAX, Adobe Photoshop CS5 (Or whatever image editor you use), SC2 Map Editor, A computer with internet and enough neurons to use google :P
Hope to see you there, cast starts in 3 hours and a half from this post :D
Here's what I would really like to see, although I think it's because I could use it in sc2 and normal game development.
Rigging models, animating, environmental models(such as buildings debris anything for a doodad). Also effects, how to make effects for fire or just cool effects and stuff.
It's tuesday today. He went up yesterday but no one showed because he didn't have enough advertisement and no links to the stream. I would have watched if I knew where the stream was.

I know, He should also have a countdown timer, I watched what I THINK was him, but im not sure... Because there was no modeling, just some terraining, and not the best at that.
That was probably a VoD of previous streams and probably one of rednox's terraining followups of mozared's terraining thursday. That's if you went to sc2streamster.

Yip same here, rigging and animation of humanoids :)
I could but that'd be some really advanced modeling and not really a "start from 0 knowledge" kind of thing :P

I meant for the to be done after you've done some more of the simpler stuff.

Today on modeling monday!
We're going to be making this:
In this episode we'll learn:
You'll be needing 3ds MAX, Adobe Photoshop CS5 (Or whatever image editor you use), SC2 Map Editor, A computer with internet and enough neurons to use google :P
Hope to see you there, cast starts in 3 hours and a half from this post :D
Guess I'm not qualified. I don't have enough neurons to use google, I use bing :p
Yeah, um... There's no one so might as well call it suspended.
I'll upload the youtube version soon and you guys can watch that one.
Is there a link anywhere to get to the stream?
@xcorbo: Go
A bit basic for my skill levels, but I'll watch to critique you on teaching/methods :)
You should cover painting diffuse layers, so the carton can look a bit muddy/dirty/used. Maybe baking ambient occlusion maps also :3
edit: oh, bit late :) will watch and critique anyway!

Rigging models, animating, environmental models(such as buildings debris anything for a doodad). Also effects, how to make effects for fire or just cool effects and stuff.
Yeah, pls. I'm totally noob at modelling and desire for these skills.
hey, how about to make another video with a bit more advanced things?
So rough ETA? how many hours from this post? Thought this site had an easy yo use timer system?
