If you like reverse engineering, check out www.xentax.com they do this with like almost every game :D and usually succeed, I'm also found on that site.
You'd never be banned for this, haha. There are sites who distribute ripped assets and have done so for years and years. Now if you were selling them... well, that would be a different story. (Edit - Also, I would never put them into an Arcade map. But, I never make anything for the arcade, so that part is just a given for me.)

I'm trying to redo the model on the Troll, since it is about 12K polys! Way to high to be used as Strategy Game Unit, I'm down to About 2K, still need to do the weapon and the fur. So I'll end up around 2.5K, hopefully not to high for a SC2 Basic Unit.
Than up to the texture, mainly it will be from the original model but I need to add some team color and some variations of course. Maybe something like a troll set :D
I also need to add a death animation,since all of them are using raggdoll stuff in HotS.
My dear friend @somacruz10 has pointed out that some of the models do not import in Max 2017, so after investigation I found that there was an issue importing models with camera(s).
So I fixed that and added the Animation Property script into a single Zip file for you to download.
I tested it on Max 2016 and Max 2017, but it should also work on previous version ( Max 2011 and up)

Since all, but the textures, is me, i'll probably redo the textures completely so I have an "all mine" egotripping feeling when I release him and I can change whatever I want ;)
Animations are nearly done, need to add a 2nd death animation, than up to the particles!
Don't worry mate, this one will be the SC2 Axe Thrower remake as a unit ( with team color)
And I will add ( from Warcraft 3) some additional color variations:
- Dark Blue-ish ( Dark Troll )
- Dark Purple-ish ( Dark Troll Berserker/warlord )
- Dark Green-ish ( Dark Troll Trapper ) -> busy with this one, doing the additional shoulder armor, but not as the official one, more like Zul'jin's shoulder armor in HotS
This will be released as a Dark Troll Pack
Then:
- Blue-ish ( Ice Trolls ) -> need to do some re-sculpting or additional sculpting for this
- Zul'jin
Then the Priest -> but it requires additional animations.
So this will be in my pipeline the next couple of weeks.

Here is a little update, polycount went from 12 k to 2580, so I guess it is a pretty decent reduction.
Because the whole model changed I had to redo the uv mapping, but I still used parts of the original HotS Zul'jin Textures

Animations and particles are done, up to some sculpting, if it doesn't turn out the way I want, I still may return using the originals from Zul'jin.
Plannig is to have a team colored one, a dark troll, and some other variations for this model.
I'll post a little update later this week when I have the time.

For the troll trapper I was planning to add some shoulder armor, not sure yet, started with re-unwrapping the model and the sculpting of the hair...

Here is an update, animation is done, re-sculpting and re-texturing is done, I like it very much (if I may say so myself)
I'm looking into some variations of the skin color, so it can also be used as a Merc.
Also looking into adding some armor to have a difference between a unit and a merc.
Probably going to add that scarf from Zul'jin, so it can also be used as a hero unit.
