See I just thought it looked awkward in the units I tried it with. The hilt ends up being the size of the blade if I scale it to much. I'm just suggesting make a balance of the two.
Was meaning more like Swann from the campaign by block like. As for the angular look, just look at the cybran from supreme commander.
The gun looks a bit flat on the sides. Been thinking, the regular will need three different styles of shooting a rifle. The Tommy (butt to shoulder like the army handbook), the Chicago (classic say hello to my little friend pose) and the Rambo (dual wielding).
3 different styles, ... I know... and the melee, and the sword, and the dual wielding swords, and the archer type, etc...
lots of animating to do.
but I believe I'll release it (version 1) with the melee attack, and the stand with the big gun once I finished the death anim and the shuffle left and right anim
Hi guys, taking a minute away from the regular guy, and added another WoW model to the list of models.
Up till know, I'm just working up the Warcraft model chain... starting with Warcraft 1 Creeps... as you may have noticed (in the hope someone does a Warcraft 1 remake :) )
Hi, guys, finally made a breakthrough with my app (Diablo 3) model importer for Max, multiple submodel, bones, vertex weights, collision spheres, even a small "guess the texture file" algorithm and it works !!
Figuring out the animation files (.ani), very busy with that, I got the format figured out, now it is time to get it in Max... and apply the animations, completely new for me, so that will be a challenge :)
What do mean ?
You need to open the mpq files and
extract the Appearance folder, yes
extract the textures and convert them, yes
Sorry :/
@JacktheArcher: Go
You could always get a copy from somewhere, lets say from a friend, and extract the models from there, you don't need to have an account to do that;
I mean as in it auto finds all models presenting them in a neat list and does the same with all textures etc. and then auto converts them on a click of a button.
I know that is a lot to do but that is what would be the most usable.
In short does the whole caboodle in a single step.
Naaaa, for the moment I do have an algorithm the finds the texture but since there are only diffuse and specular maps in Diablo, you might want to change them.
I did my first D3 model with the scripts I did, the import script seems to work just fine now, the animation script doesn't work yet with complex models.
So the first one I tried is the Diablo III Rare Chest
You can download it here, I added some particles to make it look nice :)
The zip file also contains the 3DS Max file
Stand -> the chest is closed
Opening
Stand 01 -> the chest is open, with particles, so as it is not looted yet
Stand 02 -> the chest is open, no particles, as it has been looted
Busy with the Adria model animation, still need to figure out some stuff

Well the model (.max) is in the zip file, open it in max, and do whatever you like with it :)

Had a thought, what about an arm cannon for your regular (megaman style)?

You could also go for the blocky or angular look too.

Does it have user friendly model finding or must you still do that the hard way?

This kinda makes me wish I had D3, just so I can snag some of the models out of it.
