Hi guys, i was wondering how to add effects to certain abilities (without using triggers).
I'm trying to create a custom Roach unit with the following abilities:
1.when it burrows, it creates a "hole" (actually a re-skinned Nydus Network to look like a hole)
2.when it unburrows, it creates another "hole" (again, a re-skinned Nydus Network)
I've managed to create an Effect that creates Nydus Networks (i even tested it and it works fine.....i modified the Roach's weapon to have this effect....so when the roach fires, instead of damage, it creates Nydus Networks lol....but of course this is not the effect i want)
My question is, how do i attach this Effect to the Roach burrow/unburrow ability? Because I can't seem to find a way to do so.
Or should i create a custom ability with both the Unburrow effect and Create Nydus effect? (Not sure how to do this)
Short answer, Actors and Models. There is a plethora of tutorials available for how to use actors. The best place to start is by looking at currently existing units as a baseline. The most important fields to understand how they work is Actor Events. Think of them like the Data editors version of triggers.
As to your follow up question, to limit the ability you can use Charge Count.

How to limit the number of times it can use this ability (I realized this ability is O.P. as the Roach can simply riddle the map with Nyduses)
Like maybe it can only create 1 entrance and 1 exit per game.
