I finally got a Dragoon model, which I found on this site. I is a .m3 file and I have imported it into the editor. It is an actor. I use the immortal as a base and replace the model with the new Dragoon model. It looks great!
However, the attack does not work at all for the Dragoon. How can I add the attack of the Photon Cannon for example?
Edit: I attach the Photon Cannons attack to Dragon. But no projectile shows up. Just a grey ball and a red warning message every time the Dragoon attacks. T_T
The sounds it makes when clicked are part of the Unit actor. Most of the other models and sounds are probably linked to the Action actor for the weapon you are using. As you based it on an immortal do not forget the hardened shield buff that also has it's own associated actors.
But how can I find a decent projectile that launches from the center of the Dragoon? Can that be done quite easily in the editor or do I need to find additional actors for the weapon etc?
1. Only hard thing about projectiles is the movers and that is just trial and error to get a good looking one using the blizzard guide.
2. The Action actor defines where stuff launches and impacts for an attack.
3. Best way is to make your own stuff from scratch or from the most simple template (I like the marauder action actor to copy). In short you want an orthologous weapon and not a homologous one.
4. Just remove the associated buff from the unit under the Units data type.
EDIT: I also recommend you make your own weapon, without duplicating anything. The data editor is hard to get into, and you'll never understand it if you ask very specific questions for specific problems. Just try out different weapons on the dragoon - some of them will most likely look pretty awesome.
I don't recall if the dragoon could fire while moving? In that case you'd need to add a turret of some sort.
