All damage and healing being done by my (player) units only, like the Heroes of the Storm / D3 combat text for example - different colours for each. Dodge's/absorbs might be cool too if thats also possible?
how good are you with triggers? you have to register the event "unit takes damage". then just create a TextTag with "TextTagCreate" for the owner of the damage dealing unit at the damage dealing unit. alternativly you can also create a text actor (check the campaign pickup text to get used to it). the text of the text actor has to link to an amount of a dummy effect. this is set by catalogs in order to show the right number (maybe you can change the text with catalogs now, it wasnt possible in earlier versions). dodge and critical strike is done similiar, you just have to register the effects involved in it as events and do the same.
Yeaaaah im not very good with triggers, its something i need to learn - was hoping for some help to get something basic put together from which i can tinker and learn from. if you set a text tag at the damage dealing unit, wont that have the combat text appear at the caster instead of above the unit you just damaged? i would like the combat text to appear at the target of the damage or healing not the source :)
Many thanks!
