I intend to be doing a number of data assets over the next little while, since I'm only doing basic maintanence on my only published project. Any abilities I do/have done for users in response to that thread will end up here (assuming they give me permission to showcase their ideas).
Here's the first uploaded one. This was made as a request for a 2 man modding team.
Zergling Face Hug
Ever wondered what it would look like if your Zerglings could swarm a group of marines, jump on them, claw at them a little, and finally, rip off their heads? Well, disturbing as that image might be, it’s also hilarious…check it out!
This ability works on anything with a Head attachment (the effect looks best on terran units though).
Zealot Vs Ultralisk
I won't attach this map, since it has the same basic mechanics behind it as the zerglings. However, I felt the video could help inspire people to think outside the bounds of 'target ability...send missile...do damage'. The editor is capable of fantastic combination animations outside of units' standard collision radiuses. Check it out and enjoy :).
Straight Shot, Blind, Bind, Trap, and Charge
A collection of abilities, which were made by request over on my other thread (link above). They aren't anything particularly special, but I figure somebody might get some use out of them or be able to learn with them as guidelines.
Straight Shot - Fires a projectile in a targetted direction and stops at the first unit it hits (I imagine alot of people want this).
Blind - Significantly lowers the Sight Radius of all nearby enemies.
Bind - Places a glyph on the ground and binds all nearby units to the area (units that enter after the glyph is in place will NOT be bound. Bound units exiting the area causes periodic damage.
Trap - Simple, but cool looking, this ability traps a unit in a tiny area for 15 seconds. No damage is dealt and no buffs are applied.
Charge - Similar to the old Diablo 2 charge ability (some of you may have played that). The caster lunges forward and knocks the first unit he hits backwards. No damage is dealt.
P.S. Sorry for the unecessary effects. I'm new to the whole video recording scene, so I couldn't help messing around with Movie Maker :P.

Well quite simply, Face Huggers DIE after implanting Alien DNA into the host. The Host doesn't die... right away. A Chest Burster gestates in the chest cavity of the host until it is ready to burst out, at which point the host dies.
You know, just like the Alien movies featuring Sigourney Weaver
Ahh, well, I've never seen those movies :(. This was a very specific request, which involved a feederling (I went zergling instead for testing purposes...it just animated better) and latching onto a person's face and dealing 25 periodic damage. So that's what I did :P.
On a semi-related note, I'm on my way to bed. When I wake up, I'll be finishing and uploading another ability, which is fairly similar to this first one, but shows just how good an ability like this can look. I mean, we're basically talking about units which can animate outside the collision area occupied by their characters. I haven't really seen that implemented before (at least not well). This next version will involve an ultralisk. It would be awesome to see people take these base abilities and create some execution animations. It could be done with enough time, patience, and an eye for detail.
You damn right I know my aliens. I've read every single comic involving Aliens / Predators. I've watched every film. I've played every game. Also have read most books.
Some Lore! Like when the face huggers latch on and impregnate their host with its proboscis, it doesn't just drop an egg or whatever into the chest cavity. It will actually control your breathing & breath for you. It also slightly modifies your DNA to make it able to carry the alien embryo. That's why Humans give "birth" to the Drone type Alien (Black, most common Alien), the "Runner" type (smaller, faster, red-hued skin) when the host is a Dog or other similar sized animal, or the Predalien type if the Host is a Predator. The Predalien is very large, has the dreadlock-type hair and mandibles common to the Yautja/Hish(Predator) species. Regardless of the Host species though, it's always a Chest Burster that pops out(Predator Chest Burster has mandibles) and then the CHest Burster must find some food before it can "molt" and evolve into it's full form. Sometimes certain drones evolve slightly into a Praetorian. During this stage of its evolution it must basically run from all aliens or be killed. Pheremones during the evolution mark it as an intruder. Once it is fully evolved, it grows a small crown, loses its capabilities to Leap and Cling to walls, but becomes larger and more heavily "armored". It will return to the hive to "assert" itself. Any Drone can become a Queen if there is no Queen(1 queen per Hive). Queens are the Largest of the Aliens and have a HUGE crown, they are the ones that lay the eggs that hatch the Face Huggers. The Eggs/Facehuggers can sense when someone is nearby and 'spring open' for a quick and simple leap to the face.
Other Aliens will not kill a Host because they can sense the Embryo inside of it.
Aliens can survive in Space, survive extreme colds and high heat tempatures(but cannot survive falling into molten metal), have Acid Blood, can sense their prey because of pheremones, are highly adaptable and even display intelligence. They can work together to solve problems, can cling to walls and ceilings, leap long distances, they have a long prehensile tail with a sharp spear-like tip that can cut through metal, they are extremely strong, instead of a tongue they have a second jaw that can extend outside of its mouth, it hits like a jackhammer and can bike through the skull, this is called a headbite.
So ya anyways... I really recommend watching at least Alien and Aliens. Predator aswell. And if you really like them watch Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection(4th Alien Movie), Predator 2, Alien VS Predator, and Alien VS Predator 2: Requiem.
And there's always more little tidbits of information, too :P

Zergling face hugger is pretty nice looking.... reminds me of aliens you should make it so a mini- hydalisk ripps out of the marianes stomach.
Toss unit riding ultralisk pretty neat... you could add a rocker actor to the zealot to make it look like hes having a hard time staying on. BTW what the hell is that ultra lisk doing with its pincer to attack the zealot

2. I actually tried adding a Rocker, but it seemed impossible since the Zealot's Site already needed to be the Ultralisk. I'm not sure if it's possible to give a unit two Sites, like you can do with Site Operations. I used one of the Ultralisk dance animations to make it look like it was swatting at the Zealot. Knew those anims would come in handy sooner or later :P.
[Edit]: Question guys: Am I allowed to post anything here that uses some triggers? I've got an awesome map to upload which I think alot of people will be happy to see, but there's only so far the data editor can take it. Just a handful of triggers could improve its look and functionality significantly. It would still be about 90% data.
Zealot on top of ultralisk looked epic, then I lawled when I saw the pincer doing it's thing. Facehuggers look awesome. I wish I could understand how to make cool abilities like that.
this editor is freaking amazing. As vacation comes up, I'll be finally doing some tinkering around with it to see if I can achieve this stuff. You can really do some crazy ass spells with this thing.
For example, on the Face Hugger ability? What about having it not only do the 25 DPS, but also limit the time the Zergling rides, have it an Auto casting ability with a cool down, and have the marines do the /cheer to make it look like their are waving their arms/shooting/flailing. At the same time!!!!- *gasp, how would you make it to where the Zergling is still target-able by others not stunned? And they will still shoot at the Zergling and thus do damage to both the Ling and its host?
I also would love to experiment with a spell where the Zealot Charge acts almost like a chain lightning with a stun. He rampages for a few seconds (not teleporting though, he'd actually run), bouncing from target to target and causes them to be knocked down (thus disabled for 2 seconds) + 25 Damage to each hit target. The animations you could have for such a simple sounding ability seems very fruitful. O.o
Wow that's really awesome lol. It would be cool if your teammates could shot them off your face but it would do damage do both the face huger and the unit the face huger has attached himself too.
Nice, can't believe this made it on to the news page :P. Allies can actually shoot the Face Huggers off. The problem was that in the video I latched a zergling onto each enemy, which prevented any from attacking. Certain upgrades (like dancing animations and whatnot) were left out since this was a request for another user. He seemed to have very specific guidelines to create the ability by, so I thought it was best to stick to his wishes.
I'm uploading the Zealot vs Ultralisk map. Anybody who looks will see that the ability layout is very similar.

Your Ultralisk looks like Daler Mehndi, you know, or is it just me? That ultralisk got some serious skills.
