I've finally started to get comfortable with 3ds Max and I'm looking over models blizzard has made for scII and warcraft 3 just to get a feel for how they work. But a major underlying problem I have at the moment is if I was to take the marine for example, convert it to an editable mesh, and select and move one of his polygons to distort the model, ONLY that polygon is moved. It is almost as if each and every piece of the model is detached and unable to be shaped. Can anyone give me some guidance on what I should be doing?
It might be due smoothing groups... When you import model ingame with smoothing groups each smoothing group will be de-attached. This might be the case...

or you could just weld all polygons together, maybe there was a problem with the importer :?
