Team Genesis

We are a team of editors; Everyone here has experience.

Our goal is to improve our skills by creating games that deserve the Team Genesis stamp. Combining our knowledge and skills, weak or strong, is the best way to get things done. Most of us love editing and enjoy the opportunity to present new techniques, sometimes by showing off the skills we have, and other times by solving each others problems. We are almost always willing to help another member.

This is not a team where you start with nothing to offer; you have to be willing to help and we will return the favor gladly.

TG Requirements:

  • Change your profile picture from sc2mapsters default
  • Attach your map to your profile (No File Required)
  • Contact a TG Moderator intending to showcase your work
  • State your specialty and what you hope to gain, from joining Team Genesis

We use Skype and TeamViewer for most collaboration

It is the duty of all members in TG to promote the team any way they can to increase the quality and quantity of members on the team.

    Hi there,

    I just joined the team. My "main" profession is trigger editing - so maybe I can offer help in this section.

    I'm currently working on bringing my map to a first main release state. So qualified testers - and I think in this group are a lot of them - are always welcome. So feel free to visit the project forum and give some feedback.

    @DarcZaFire: Go Good idea, it's good that we have an experienced leader to lead us in this! I also have tons of experience in teams and I think it calls for a good team debate/discussion sometime about how we should go about the structure of making a team map.

    This seems like a good time to publicly mention, Vincent and I are currently making a hockey sports map. It will be released as "TG Hockey" and if it goes well, we'll released more sports under the name "TG Sports." Not that much more to do!

    I just realized you said "very first team event".. we had a team event before.. back when it was just me, Vincent, Caleb, and glorn. We made a map and it didn't get very far. Eventually caleb was the only one working on it. He might still be lol it is def something worth showing off. I did the terrain, with vincents help and then I became the idea man lol. ddnt know much more about editing then terrain and some really basic triggers... Caleb was Data and he has a good eye for balance. Vince was data more on the art side I believe. Glorn was triggers. Our fallout came to a point when we asked Glorn to do some specific things in triggers that he didn't agree with. he'd tell us to do it ourselves. I wasn't patient with Caleb's pace of progress, and Vince would only log in for an hour or 2 and MAYBE get the map if Caleb remembered to pass it or share it. This project happened way before I knew about Dropbox... even more so before we even used Skype.. so I'm sure those issues are resolved. Another issue is that I tried to bring in more and more people to make up for the lack of progress. Eventually to much effort was lost in explaining what has happened, new people got overwhelmed trying to edit WITH the existing work... Boundaries were crossed or blurred and who did what, or who has the latest version,.. just got way to confusing. But id like to think that lessons were learned.. I know I picked up a few things.

    Such as;

    • Start a project that you know how to do (mostly). Just like bringing a child into this world; you should know as much as you can before taking on this challenge, while leaving some of it to learning as you go.
    • a project needs a parent.. meaning that if everyone else working on it loses interest, one person can still carry the map to its full potential.
    • The moment you rely on someone else's editing skill to carry your map is the moment that you have lost your map. You don't know what they know.. so what happens when they leave, or go inactive?
    • To get help, you have to let the helper help you the way that THEY want to... otherwise the helper is just doing what you want, rather than doing what keeps their interest.
    • Everyone has their own pace. Do Not replace a slow working editor with a new one.. the new one might be excited to help in the new position but will most likely get overwhelmed trying to please your need for speed.

    TEAM EVENT #1

    You are cordially invited to Team Genesis's very first team event!

    Who?

    Team Genesis members and affiliates are invited and are welcome to invite anyone whom they'd like to attend as well.

    When?

    No set time, but next Saturday night sounds nice (November 23rd). Mention a particular time that night, or another day that weekend, if there's another time that suits you better!

    What are we going to do?

    Undecided! We could either hold our own map night, or perhaps do something retro like... An SC1 map night! Or... We can all take turns testing and showing our finest works to each other... It doesn't matter what we do, just that we do it together and have a great time!

    lol you have to be more consistent than this. There may have been a few people back then.. there may be now. There s a process of introduction to the project and you dropped the ball lol. Now it has to start over.

    I can add you to our Skype channel and you can try to be more aggressive with this there :)

    Run the project from engamer.net, use Team Genesis as the base of operations, and keep it a hero based game; These are CloudWulfs requirements for Fields of Glory.

    The only real requirement is to run the project from engamer.net and use this as the official site and base of operations.

    Other than that, I'm happy to let a new team of developers complete the project as they see fit and list Team Genesis as the creator :)

    @JacktheArcher: Go

    The game is currently set out to be a form of dota-style map, with two teams.

    Each side spawns units, players use heroes to turn the tide of battle.

    Happy for whoever takes this over to use their own ideas for the project. However, I'm keen to keep it a hero based game.
