Noob Team

This is not for hireing new members. we already have enough. So add this to your subscriptions or favourites.

Name: We need to choose a name for our team. If you have any ideas, post them

Maps: first i think we should start off with a Starship troopers map. If you have not played it please do. The jobs of everyone are clear except the data editor. Please just modify the units and make more versions of each so we can have leveled enimes. I will make the triggers on one map then copy and paste them on the terrained map. The data editor will import his stuff to the terrained map. the only probleme is that how can the doodad editor do it at the same time as everyone else. he will have to edit the project after its done and put the finishing touches on it

Position: Drand1- Triggers
Vikingore: Doodads
CocoaMac: Data
peonPowa: Terrainer

If you are not shure what to do, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLwj5GVvdLI watch all the videos that you like but try not to base your area of the map on it.

some one else can do that... i am going to hand this control over to the first one who respondes. i probably wont see who does so you will have to cary out the deed yourself. i am switching from my favourite games from starcraft 2 to oblivion untill the next campaign comes out

okay then its your choice. i will remove you from the team (which will probably fall apart) in 14 hrs

Drand1, I'm interesting in dropping from the team. It isn't that the work is too hard, or that I dislike working in a team- I've finally been to 4 out of my five classes this semester, and including my duties for my student organization, there is simple too much work for me to contribute on a regular basis. It's not too exaggerated to say that it'll take me months to make the changes to the data for this map, or any other.

The main cause is my "Mass Communications" class, which features weekly tests based on current events from a local, regional, national, and international level. What that means is that I pretty much need to keep up-to-date with a variety of news sources- That's is about 1 hour out of my already dwindling freely allocated time (which is allocated on a need-based schedule, aka, my freetime does not account for homework or assignments, which will eat it up).

If I want to continue editting Starcraft 2, realistically, it would only be feasible for me to work independently, as my limited time would not affect anyone else.

by the way to make this as clear as can be, we are still planning and need confirmation that peonpowa and vikingore are reading and will start there part of the map when we tell them to

that would be quite cool (custo structers), but i dont want to put to much work into this map. this is only our first map. I also understand what you were saying abut this type of map not being... (forget what you said). I picked this type of map because it should be fairly easy to do. on the other hand it makes the game alot funner to go that extra mile. We should be defending a spacecraft but not because were waiting for it to leave, because were waiting for people to get here. we should have people (colonists, marines, scinetests and some tanks and golliaths) coming in from all over the map. I will list the buildings we can have: barracks (infantry), factory (vehicls), perhaps a supply depot or something else small ( for, if we want, scv's), scv's should be able to build bunkers and auto turrets( auto turrets should cost alot so look at them then mulitply all there stats by 2 or 3, make it so they dont have a time period and give them a fairly high cost depending on you equation up above.

does this make it more clear? or is this not what you meant? also with the merging buildings we could make an awesome science building for upgrades?

Beginning of the semester, so I'm going to be really delayed, due to meetings and getting used to classes and driving to school.

Aside from that, I might take longer to finish data editor, since I want to try out hosting operations for the buildings, and well as redoing the tech tree. I'm not sure what mechanics we want to use, since it would be dependent on the map setting.

Just so that I have this information, are we working with standard base construction, or do we want to limit the number of structures (infantry building, vehicle building, upgrade building) and have upgrade building serve as some sort of resource building (workers bring back 'minerals' or 'gas' to the upgrade building)? I'm assuming this is how it works, since Drand1 did mention the buildings being invulnerable- I might have to run up a different structure that the players need to defend, such as a communications tower, or landing area (or, if we want to get complex, a landed spacecraft, such as the colonyship). If we're using the landed spacecraft, we can probably run a scenario where the players have to the defend the ship until it is ready, somewhat similar to the Blood Elf tower defense in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (where the player needs to defend elves and the portal where they are leaving Azeroth from), as the vessel is their only way off planet.

I find that these types of maps aren't too unique, so there needs to be some thing that sets it apart from others. In case you haven't looked into hosting operations, I'm looking in to how we can create custom structures by combining existing buildings and doodads without using custom models. [such as this http:forums.sc2mapster.com/development/artist-tavern/7880-is-it-hard-to-create-this-model/#p3]

    I'm on NA server.

yes its a good idea, should we put this on the loading screen? if so it wont be hard to do and we should do it at the end. a cinematic would be cool, showing afew marine and coloials in a town being overrun. If we do that it would be cool if survivors shoed up at ceratin points in the game. This map should be playable for 4 people so we can test it out as a team. Guys lease tell me the servor your in. if we are all in different ones we wot be able to play. im in the northamerican
