leave me alone and let me work

leave me alone and let me work

What we Are:

A separate but equal group of editors who know what they are doing, but may occasionally need feedback from someone who isn't an idiot, or can offer more efficient ways to do something. This is not a group for noobs to ask "How does I make my Zealot fly?" No, go away. Not everyone has a complete comprehension of every aspect of the editor, this is understood. If you do not know what a loop is, you do not know enough. If you do not know what a dialog box is, you do not know enough. If you do not know how to make the units for your own map, you do not know enough. No one wants to spend their time making a map for someone incapable of doing it themselves.

Well, wow... you really don't like people, do you?

Good point! I/we/us want to spend our time editing, and have a moderately dedicated group of people to occasionally lend aid. The kind of people who know what is going on, and aren't jumping in with terrible suggestions; or troubleshooting, "Is the power turned on? Check for me, make sure the power cable in the back is plugged into a working outlet. Do you see a green light? is the monitor powered on, and plugged in?"

What is Required of Members:

You must have an active project. You do not need to have your own "author" page or anything. Anyone with a blank map can have a green boarder. Show proof that you are not illiterate with the editor, and have a plan. I/We only ask that you put in as much group effort as you would like to get from others. It is helpful to have someone who knows your map well, and knows what you are trying to accomplish in the long run. If you want someone to test you map and give constructive feedback on the UI, be prepared to offer an equal value of assistance in return. This is not a charity, do not feel inclined to help others, but also, only expect as much out as you put in.

Anyone interested in joining... well... you can figure out what to do. Otherwise, I will enjoy being all alone in this group. No one wants me to enjoy it as much as I will.

    @GlornII: Go

I will add that in the next update. Barely makes any difference as the game is singleplayer though.

Scorp, I found a biggish problem with your map. Your banks are not protected at all. I can open your bank file, put a few zero's after everything, and look hax.

Bank - Set Option Signature for Bank (Last opened bank) to Enable

You want that line, when you open a bank.

Ah, I see we have another one in our ranks. Another person with a number preceeding their name. They dare to call my name unoriginal, at least I don't need numbers after mine :P

Anyways with that rant out of the way, welcome desmondlai30, what sort of stuff you working on? We did some basic intros on page 2 of this thing if you'd like to know more about us.

Sorry for the late answers, I am not getting any notifications when posts are made here. I will answer both of you in this post, and there is no order in the answers, so excuse me if it is a bit confusing to read. Anyways, let's begin:

Thanks for reporting the issue with the untargetable unit (Void Seeker). I'll see what I can do.

Currently, you are rewarded with achievements aswell as additional coins when playing higher difficulties. In short, tough challenges gives tough rewards.

Unit values such as health, speed and abilities will be added in the future.

Tassadars' pathing is done intentionally. He will move around randomly, and is meant to be more of a distraction than an actual enemy. This will be noted as an ability wherever I choose to show unit descriptions.

I do not seem to be able to figure out why the Infested Terran* scales like it currently does. I will look into the problem though.

You can start with other structures than the 20 cost structures. I am usually starting off with two Predators (vikings) when playing Act II and III.

I will allow settings to be saved in a future update.

The unlockable structures are not meant to give players any advantages. They're there to give the player opportunities, and allow players for lots of different strategies and playstyles.

The Missile Turret was removed because I did not like the concept, but will be redone and added in a future update.

I will see what I can do about the huge amounts of minerals late game.

More text messages will be added in Act II and III aswell.

Psi Storm and Additional Coins do stop at 100 charge. This forces the player to regularly spend their charges, which prevents abuse. (Players would otherwise use all of their charges just before the game ends, and get loads of Coins)

I think I answered all of your notes now. Thanks a lot for the feedback. It will take a while until the next update is released, but I will contact both of you at that time.

I just spent some time on your new version of the map Scorp, first of all, why did you have to AXE my favorite structure, the missile turret? What the hell kind of turret defense doesn't have that :P Now instead I am using ghetto marauders and predators and snipers, booooo.

Anyways, aside from that, I found that a typically unbeatable strategy was to put perditions in front, and snipers in back (replaced by laser towers later on), let everything get barbequed and anything too tough for that gets fried anyways. I used the motion sensors too of course.

I found the same conclusions about Infested zealots and the untargetable ship that GlornII found. For the record that is Zeratul's ship GlornII, I forget the exact name though.

A minor error, but annoying was that it kept re-enabling tips each and every game I played, those settings aren't getting saved between games well at all.

I also found myself with way too much money to burn in the end of Act III, i didn't even notice the tassadar personally, just more barbequed toss/zerg for me to kill.

Also, the 'unlockable' towers seem kind of junky in comparison to the base ones, didn't feel like I could really do anything more with the new content that I couldn't do before.

Didn't seem to be near as many text messages to indicate where you were at in Acts 2 or 3 as there were in 1, was just sort of, oh here is some probes and zealots and crap, defend!

spent 2 hours on your map scorp, here is what I found:

Tassadar does not have proper pathing. He goes outside his box, and was even running in circles for a few seconds.

Infested zealots, err uhh, what looks like them anyway, their death animation is scaled up like 400%; looks kinda silly when they die.

Starting with anything but the cheapest turrets is an auto loss.

Should limit the number of supply depots. Im in a game right now, easy mode; 3000 minerals.. nothing to buy... nothing hurts me.

pediatrician turrets (the fire ones) and tanks combined, are auto win; at least on 60%-100% modes.

It would be nice to know the life and armor values of monsters.

Do the charges for psi storm stop at 100? should they? I think they do.

I now have 6000 minerals. More tower upgrades would be superrrr!

A good idea would be to scale the strength of monsters as the rounds progress, rather than simply making more. My 2 lines of tanks destroy everything except hardcore tanks, which my turrets eat in half a second.

And wowwwww, something just went past all my towers without getting attacked at all; it showed no health bar either. It was the uhhh.. protoss flying thing, with the circle in the middle of it. I am not good with unit names. Couldnt target it, displayed nothing.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. The game "looks" nice, it plays smooth, and is a unique TD experience. There isn't really anything that will draw me back to playing it again though. Add a lot more tower, and tower upgrades; increase the minerals earned on high difficulties, so there are some towers that can only be purchased on those difficulties; or easily purchased. Make people want to play through all of the difficulties for something.

Zerg, if you get a chance, would you be interested in testing out my map with me, and giving me some feedback? I have been consistently gaining 5-10 hours played per day; but the general public is kinda... stupid. The opinion of a mapper on a lot of finer points I feel could help me a lot more than "YOU NSHOULD MAKE DA BIG BLUE SPLOSION WHEN I PRESSES DA F KEY!" or "that killed me, so it is OP; but when I use it, I lose with it, so whatever beat me was OP. But when I used that, I lose, so it is OP also. Everything that beats me, my first time playing this game, must be completely rigged."

My hate for the people I want to adore my game has no end... Anyway, Flurgeburg.920 if you are interested; map name is CHA-Alpha. Usually takes 10 minutes or so to get a group of people for it.

Scorp, I am going to test your game right now; I will have feedback up after I lose a few times.
