I was gonna try to get my RPG ready for the contest; but was just insanely overwhelmed by how much I would have needed to finish. I was then gonna create a trigger based tower defense with huge variety and the sorts, for this contest; but lost interest when Dark Souls 2 came out. So, I have been on break from editing for a couple of weeks; and will remain that way for a couple more. I am still planning on making a tower defense though; as a data learning tool for my RPG; as I have a lotttt of data work to do and learn.
Your game reminds me of an old Sega Genesis game I used to play when I was like 6... I forget what it was called... Looks fun though!

Have you completely stopped work on your RPG, or just doing a side project for now? I was considering a side project for this competition, but "ehh". I hope to have an alpha to enter in this contest; if I can get everything done that I would like; it might have a shot of getting a vote.
Oh it goes, taking a break from it right now though. Starting on a new project to enter in the contest that has come up. Even if my RPG were done the way I wanted, it is the wrong type of map to have a chance at winning.
Neato! I was outta town working 60 hours a week for.. 3 months. I got home this week and will be back to normal work days so am attempting to pick my project back up. The burden is... AHHHHHH! 600 variables, 6000 lines of text; and I have... half... of the hero/items part of the project done. .. The item half! Zergling, how goes your RPG thingy?
Hey what's up. Been a year already that i had not work on anything because i didn't really had time to work on starcraft 2 maps as i was working on a Minecraft Server and also some other things. Well recently i created a Custom Melee Map with instant build and planning in the future also to add more balanced campaign troops into it.

I just spent weeks working on a random item generator, which works alongside a 100% dialog based inventory; and saves/loads in banks.
Needless to say; it was a lot of work! Saving 7 variables for each item; so that it could be remade through the banks. having to compress and decompress those variables all into a single string; so they could actually fit in the bank... 5 save slots, 35 item slots, 7 variables per item =1225 variables to be set per player; just to cover items.
Mind numbing pain my friend; mind numbing!
It varies with how I make hybrids, based on what I need, what the problem is, etceteras. Probably won't be the prettiest code/xml when it is all said and done, in fact I imagine it will be downright fugly in some areas, but I don't care, will do the job I want it to!
Yea, working on Horologium RPG again, slowly but surely, slowly replacing my MMORPG playing/sleeping with more editing. As soon as my guild beats the last expansion in game, which could be very soon now, I'll stop giving a crap at all about logging in. Anyways, putting some real effort into getting my 4th class operational, will either proceed to finish Area 3 or get my 5th class going finally then. Really should probably just get the 5th class going, I know how to easily make most of his planned abilities now anyways. Save 1 or 2, which is probably why I'm putting it off :)
Dialog work makes me sad, I know how important/critical it is of course. Doesn't make me hate it any less. Especially for little menus that the bulk of users will just be, get the hell outta my way and close instantly.
I also like to combine triggers and data; though technically, you shouldn't need triggers to amplify data. As a triggerer, I find it easier. A data guy shouldn't have a problem with it though. You are working on your holo RPG again? I am still doing dialogs for my map. Hundreds of hours of dialog work. Pretty much my entire map is based around dialogs. I have been working to pretty them up a bit. I have about 70% of them done. Another 2 weeks and I will be ready for the data grind to end all data grinds!
