Okay. My tutorials had something like 10,000 + views last I checked and I've been reviving a lot of requests for video tutorials, since some find them a lot easier to follow. So I launched my first youtube channel and website just for you guys. :D

Don't worry, I'll still be doing my text tutorials, since with videos I can't always explain everything as much as I'd like to. Not sure if you guys noticed this but I'm a fan of explaining why what's in the tutorial does what it does. Otherwise its only good for that one specific thing. Anyway.. with that said....

Ta-da. Simple way to make your map get a bit more dramatic when you want it to. Zerg just attacked the planet and everybody is dying while you try to escape? Add some rain with this. Protoss Mothership coming in to murder a bunch of colonists? Make it rain. :D

Make sure to watch it in HD or you might not be able to see the triggers clearly.

    Added another tutorial

Its a video-afied version of how to make a simple custom unit. Not a bid deal or anything, thought I'd post it though.

So fail recording with epic computer. I feels for your empathy :)

Making rain emitter all around the map is not performance friendly however, i would prefer some around the player camera only, though it would be complicated, you could just post the trigger part where you create the actor rain emitter at a point and later destroy it

Why does it hurt performance if the only ones shown are around the camera anyway? (just wondering)...Also, it occured to me you might just be able to create 1 with a scale size of like 300.

Scale big will make the rain particle bigs too, having models all over the map reduce performance, but it is useful if you want it to rain when you enter some specific area too

I wanted to do it with voice but I totally can not bring myself to talk into a microphone and sound excited or even remotely interesting....lol

I'm uploading another tutorial AS I WRITE THIS!!!

Its nothing new, though. Its essentially a video version of how to copy an existing unit, change the model, and modify the stats and weapon. Nothing too amazing.

Theres a lot of people that can still use a simple tutorial like that..., Im going to need to send you a PM as soon as I move my galaxy noobs tutorials from the secret forums to here. Youd make a good writer for them I think.

Except that I've never used Galaxy Code. Ever. :D I stick to triggers, and I can do quite a lot with em. I'm not a noob at code, though, just not Galaxy. I am fluent in GML, which a simplified version of C plus plus. I also know a bit of C plus plus. Galaxy is based of C, right? If thats the case I should be able to pick it up pretty easy. Although I was wondering- can you do more with code than with triggers alone?

Oh the tutorials arnt for galaxy code, just named galaxy noobs for the "galaxy editor". However, there are a few things you can do with galaxy than triggers are not able to, s3rious had a post about this a long while ago. But you seem to be doing a lot of tutorials for people just starting out, which is what I wanted the tutorial series to be all about. I have a few already written, but then took a month+ leave of absence from here, so the series is far behind. Like I said when I get them put up ill send you a pm, may or may not be something you whant to do. regardless tho keep up the good work =D

Does this still work? Even with my graphics on Ultra the rain actors aren't showing up.

If I use Create Actor Model instead they show up, but not with Create Actor =(
