Possibly, yeah! Do we want to do a hybrid protoss/terran unit though? Or a pure Protoss unit? Though, I suppose a hybrid would be cool, especially since this guy was a Ghost, :)... I like it! Though, this would be the basis of the unit, I was aiming to create an actual unit type, not just a hero unit. However, we can use this guy as the Hero for this unit type.
For those of you wondering, here is information on Gestalt Zero. It says he uses a pistol (in his left hand) and a psionic blade (on his right)... So a combination of a Zealot with a Ghost, yeye, :D. This would also mean we'd be using Infantry Weapons and Ground Weapons.
So for spells, we now have his paralyze dart pistol and small-remote detonated bombs. We also have an upgrade, Muadun's templar-grade nerve cords.
So yeah! We should have three units in the Protis Mod then, the Protoss Sniper unit, the Sniper Academy, and then Gestalt Zero, the Protoss Sniper Hero.

The idea sounds great, but a ghost-type unit with just a small pistol doesn't suit me. How about the ability to put sword and pistol away and grab some protoss sniper gun fr the better range? Eventually with a minimum attack distance of 2 or 3?

The Protis Sniper should have a snipe ability ("Forum Snipe"?) that fires instantly with insane damage and infinite range, the tooltip should read "Snipes forum users before they finish their posts."

I'll try and make some concept art for the sniper rifle, but I need one little bit of info: Is the Protoss Sniper a Nerazim or Khalai unit? (Dark or normal templar?)
I think Nerazim (DT) would be better, as that would give a logical explanation for the cloaking.For the "nuke": Planetary Purification
Carriers/Purifiers from orbit fire their purification weapons at an area (as they do to wipe planets clean of zerg). We could make the ability just deal damage like the terran nuke, or turn it into a high damage over time spell that deals maybe like 1000 damage over 5 seconds (reduced by 50% against buildings).
Instead of building the nuke, the structures would "Prepare orbital warp in", be unusable while the warp in is ready, and when the "nuke" ability is used, they warp in the purifiers to fire (Just as a lore explanation for the delay before impact. Purifiers don't actually show up)In the beginning, the universe was created.
This was regarded as a bad move and made a lot of people angry.

The idea of creating Gestalt Zero both as hero and as unit type is very cool, but doesn't fit the idea here. I agree with you Almaity, make it a Nerazim unit, or maybe it is one more "cooperative" unit just like the lore for Void Rays. Maybe it looks like a DT but the weapon looks Khalai. The Purification ability is perfect as a replacement for nukes.
The weapon could look like the Soul Hunter weapon it would be both the melee weapon and the long range weapon. For the tech tree I think the Academy should require a Twilight Council.
Any chance of making it a female protoss? Selendis can't be the only one.

About it being a female protoss... I wouldn't mind, but what exactly distinguishes female from male protoss? I'll check the wiki article a bit later, but I dont think we#ll find anything.

Alright, done with my first idea, cant really get any other ideas as making a gun look protossy is... well... hard...
So yeah, its not exactly a "gun" :pIt looks the same on both sides, with the exception of that "Shield" I drew below being on the outer side.
Yes, the inner side looks dull around where the arm is... But it's the bloody inner side of a weapon. What's supposed to be there? I guess we could cover it up with a shield as on the other side if you guys dont like it the way it is, so that the dudes arm would be stuck in the middle of the weapon.
Also, the symbol-thingy-in-a-circle on the left of the shield should be the player decal.Most of the edges around the weapon are sharp, so it can be used as a melee weapon as well.
Sorry that I didn't edit the image in photoshop beforehand, my comp died, and my image editing software with it, and im stuck on a crappy laptop >.>
EDIT: Oh yea, colors are the usual Nerazim platinum with emerald decorations (so the crystal and stuff are emerald)

Are you guys still using Gesalt Zero? I think that would be a terran hero more than a protoss sniper. Terrans did create him and he was originally terran he just got protoss added into him.
EDIT: Just read the other posts so ignore what I said. Anyways for the nuke if it warps in a purifier maybe we should be able to control the purifier as well or will it be like in campaign where it can't move while firing? It'd be pretty awesome to be able to move it, I remember this one game where you had control of the ion cannon and it would just wreak havoc all over the base but focused on one building or two it would just destroy those and the time limit was usually up.
I think of the the spells for the normal unit sniper should be a lockdown sort of thing, kind of like zeratul's spell in campaign. Maybe make a real hallucination too.

EDIT: I love the weapon made by TheAlmaity. But i think it should have more cristals on it. Cristals=Protoss energy. Or we could have a zealot wearing a pack on it's back full of gold minerals :D

Serious part of this post: As my image isn't in color (no colored pencils or access to image editing software better than paint and lack of a mouse even for that), I guess it's hard to see the crystals. Im sure you havent missed the obvious one in the center, thats practically the weapon itself. Theres a spike right on top of it, and a small crystal in there. Spikes above and below holding the main crystal also have 1 crystal each. Add the fact that that's a 2D drawing and the weapon is mostly symmetrical, that doubles the crystals on spikes. Then to the left of the main crystal theres that big triangle, which is a crystal itself.
I think adding a crystal on the shield of the weapon wouldn't hurt. Also, any of the odd small shapes I drew onto the weapon can be replaced with crystals. But theres a point where it just becomes overkill.
Remember, its just a weapon, not even the entire unit.Also, crystals =/= protoss energy. Protoss energy (at least the one they use for their abilities and such) comes from the Khala or the Void (Depending what kind of templar they are), so a protoss without crystals is far from powerless. Im guessing they store energy they use for machines in crystals though, so thats a sort of bonus, but not many of them would be required. And that crystal in the center of the weapon should in theory be enough (Look at the void ray, it has only 1 crystal I think, with the same purpose)

Well, it'd be Khalai if we go with the Gestalt Zero idea. Maybe we just make Gestalt Zero the hero type unit? Then he'd have a different model and everything as well, making it all the more cooler, :D. So yeah, I think that's what we'll do here... And male protoss! Also, that concept looks sick Maity, :D.

so it's settled that he's ALL protoss? i don't like the idea of a manga-based terran hero or anything like that. I was envisioning a new unit altogether. like how spectres were added into campaign and to the editor. what i mean is something you can buy 50 of if you wanted to.
as for the ability to replace emp, how about a force-based psionic crush? something that scrambles all units in a large area into a real small area, and paralyzes em with minor damage. i was thinking that + high templars would be an awesome strategy (since shockwave would hit all the guys cornered in by the crush)
EDIT: this overpowering ability should be balanced out with a required research, or a high energy cost. another ability could be a mutli snipe that hits up to 5 targets with a snipe power that does about a third of the damage of a normal snipe, but cant be used quite as often
lastly, the basic weapon should be a rifle of some sort... not a pistol.
SECOND EDIT: HOLY SHIT I GOT IT!!!! what if the sniper rifle fired a homing projectile?

Yeah, I suppose what we'll do is have a brand new Protoss unit, which is also what I envisioned to begin with as well. We can either make Gestalt Zero the Hero unit (which would be cool because we'd be helping people who want to make campaigns, have lore for him, and have a different model for him than the normal unit) or we can make a new Sniper hero unit for Protoss.

The recent 1.4 patch brought about a bunch of balance changes, as well as a Situation Report to explain some of the ideas behind the changes that were made. For some reason, the infamous Protis Sniper meme that has been on the Bnet Forums popped back into my head (seems like it always does when balance changes are discussed, :X), and I thought that it'd be awesome for us, as a community, to make a playable unit out of him. That being said, as a community, come up with a Protoss Ghost unit and an accompanying Protoss Ghost Academy (name still up in the air!). Yes, we need to come up with everything for both the unit and the building, as I want this to be a full blown custom unit. Once everything is complete, someone (myself?) will put it all together and put the unit/building into a Mod to be used as a Dependency for anyone who wants to use it!
We need all of these for 3 units, the Protoss Ghost, the Protoss Ghost Academy, and the Gestalt Zero hero.
And some number crunching...
(Note for myself so I don't forget, when making the Mod we need to make sure we not only add the building and the unit, but make the unit buildable from a structure [the gateway?] and add the building to the probe tech tree).
