    Title

    Update 16.5.2012

Great news, everyone: I just finished the final shot of SC2: Rebirth of the Swarm, which means that filming is basically finished. Despite what some of you may think, this project was never dead and activly worked on during the last 2 years. The only thing that remains now is that I need to go through all the shots again and make adjustments to a few of them, expecially the older ones, seeing how ive gotten so much better with machinima during the course of this movie. This, however, should only take 2 weeks or less.

When im done with that, you can expect new screenshots and new trailers. The quality of the animation has greatly increased since I released the last trailer and I cant wait to show you guys what I have in store for you!

Also, please keep in mind that im looking for a new voice for Shiloh! If you are interested, please read this topic: http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/general/team-recruitment/15523-starcraft-rots-machinima-voice-casting/ and PM me!

Note that all the footage in the trailers that are up now is old and has been greatly improved since then.

    Overview

Starcraft - Rebirth of the Swarm is the biggest Starcraft 2 Machinima Project to date. Ill plan the movie to have a full length of 20-50 minutes, also, the movie will be fully voiced. However, i still need some voice actors, but we will get back to that later.

    Teaser Poster 1:

The movie begins shortly before the events of starcraft 2 and centers around one of the first full scale attacks of the zerg on a terran planet since their four year long disappearance. Most of the movie is set on the desert planet "Cron II" which is controlled by the Umoja Protectorate. The planet is full of giant mineral fields, which make it a tactical important planet, but is populated mostly by marines and miners due to the hard living conditions. However, the planet gets attacked by huge wave of zerg, and in an act of seeking help, the marines send out a distress call into space, which is received by the protoss mothership Tasiis. The protoss, knowing that this is the first zerg attack since four years, prepare to help the terrans in defending the planet.

    Sage Corbin:

    Race: Terran

    Voice actor: Already voiced.

Sage Corbin is a colonell on the planet Cron II and is in controll of most of the marines that protect the mines on the planet. During the Broodwar, he defended the planet against zerg and other terran factions.

    Zhadun:

    Race: Protoss

    Voice Actor: Already Voiced

Zhadun is a dark templar which already lived for some time on Cron II. He made himself a name among the terrans as the "Protoss from Umoja". Zeratul himself send him to this planet, but noone but him knows why.

    Shiloh Maltair:

    Race: Terran

Voice Actor: Already voiced (However, considering to revoice him, so ask if you want to)

Shiloh is a ghost working for the protectorate that was send directly from Umoja to Cron II to help in defending the planet against the incoming Zerg.

    Asuris:

    Race: Protoss

    Voice Actor: Already Voiced

Asuris is a high templar on the mothership which received the distress call of the terrans. He will lead the troops into battle when they finally reach cron II.

    Naoros:

    Race: Protoss

    Voice Actor: Already voiced

Naoros is in command of the troops on the mothershipp Tasiis. He, however, is under the command of Asuris.

As mentioned earlier, im looking for some voice actors for the movie. There are alot of minor characters, as well as some major characters that still need to be voiced. If you are interested, please read the SC:ROTS Voice Acting Thread: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/general/team-recruitment/15523-starcraft-rots-machinima-voice-casting/

    Feel free to give feedback.

Hey I posted this on your video, but what font was that? It looks nice and starcraft-y.

edit- I see you added a new video...I'd recommended (if you know how to, I'm not sure how hard this is) making zeratu'ls voice all echoey like it is in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYfwTBOYPgc

There is no Zeratul in this movie.

    #7 Dec 24, 2010 at 19:23 UTC - 0 likes

At 0:43 in the video the guy says "ah...zeratul" and you can see zeratul at 0:47...I guess he's in the trailor but not the movie, then. Okay, whatever.

    #8 Dec 24, 2010 at 19:24 UTC - 0 likes

He says "Ah Zhadun, one of Zeratuls most trusted companions". Zhadun is also a dark templar, just like Zeratul. Just look at the listed characters in the opening post of this thread, you will find Zhaduns name too.

    Umm...Umoja doesn't have Ghosts...The Dominion does, however.
As for their team color, it should be cyan or light blue. (This is the Umojan military's color, like the Dominion's is red and Kel-Morian Combine's is green)
And there is also a decal pack available somewhere on this site, that contains the Umojan decal. Just import it into your map and give it the same filename as Raynor's Raiders' logo, it will override that one in the map.

You can change team colors and decals in the player properties menu.
And Protoss should be blue or the same color as the Umojans (cyan/light blue).

    Umoja does have Ghosts.

However, this movie does not follow the lore of Starcraft to 100% when it comes to colors. Yes, all protoss are blue in this movie too, exept for the main characters, so the audience can tell them apart from the rest. And yes, all of the Umoja Terrans in this movie are blue too, exept for Sage and Shiloh, because they are the main characters.

And no, i wont change the decals.

Well, how about some critism on the trailer itself??

Umoja has shadowguards. They're more like spies than actual snipers.
And why not change the decals? It takes like 5 seconds to do...

As for the trailer, it is kind of short and the voices sound a bit muffled.

5 seconds to do? Haha, you have no idea how much work wents into a movie like this, do you?

    #13 Dec 24, 2010 at 20:36 UTC - 0 likes

I think he meant 5 seconds to change it in-game. And the trailor looks fine, it doesn't have to agree with sc2 lore 100% shesh.

Good trailer, might wanna add some subtitles though. The Protoss is hard to understand, especially if English is a second or third language.

And you might wanna consider not using voices at all. I can barely hear them trough the music, and, to be honest, IMHO they pull your movie down and make it less exciting.

Nah, using voices is always better then subtitles, even when the acting isnt top notch. It also prepares me for future projects. Maybe ill add subtitles later on. Anyways, im glad you liked the trailer.

    Yup. Needs subtitles

Just soft subs, so its an option for people that want it. Nothing ruins a good flick like hard subs.

Okay. I looked at the video again, looks great, but 1 more thing. The ghost's voice is really wierd. Is it because it was computer generated or something for the trailer? Either way I really dislike it.

Might as well offer two versions. Only takes like a week :P
