SC1 Episode 3-5 Are not right

    I refuse to play these episodes, they are not right. The sc1 remakes are supposed to be almost exactly like the sc1 one, well, 3-5 do not have the sc1 sounds for the units. I don't like it, it's boring that way because I feel like i'm playing sc2.

    You guys did a great job, but please change the sounds. How hard can it be? I changed almost all the unit sounds in one of my old maps. It's just not as exciting as the real sc1 is, but I cannot play that because theres no FULL sc1 version for mac.

    Unless someone can give me a link for that, I just don't want to play the remakes.

    Look, I'm a Starcraft 1 "fundamentalist" and I was worried a lot about the production of the episodes, since to me a SC1 remake should be 100% like SC1, but I changed my mind when I've played them, since they've done an excellent work and fused in a great way SC1 with a bit of elements SC2. I agree on the sounds, but terrain, units, AI, cinematics, cutscenes etc... are great, in some maps the AI is almost the same. Anyway I hope Zerg campaign will be released as well, and maybe Enslavers 1/2 and the Stukov mini campaign.

    @TheTorrasque:

    They pretty much already have, they are gonna make episode 6 soon.

    But yes, I love the work they did, but all I ask is for the sounds...

    If you don't like the sounds they use, and it's easy to fix and you've done it before, why don't you do it?

    #5 May 08, 2012 at 22:36 UTC - 0 likes

    @SnyderGuy:

    Then we are in 2, but I'm sure more people want to have all SC1 sounds

    There are hundreds of sounds that need to be changed, I do not have the time to do that, plus they have more thhan 1 person working on it. If they have enough time to make a complete remake, then they have enough time to change sounds.

    And I don't have enough time to change the sounds to the mixed sounds they currently are, which I prefer.

    Its not what you prefer, it's what the public prefers... If you would rather have the regular just make a back up with the way you like it...

    And how do you have time to make a remake of sc1 but not have enough time to change sounds?

    Okay Chief, we'll get right on that... wait, never mind.

    Are you really going to tell someone who you for some reason assume to be one of the authors (which he's not) that it's not about what he prefers? I don't particularly like the term "gamer entitlement" but if there ever was such a thing this is it right here. I mean, what the fuck, dude? Do you see a price tag on these maps? Are you hoping to achieve something with this "I refuse to play"-declaration thread? You could've posted a comment on the project page like everybody else.

    And believe it or not, we actually also have other things to do, we don't spend every waking moment fulfilling everyone's wishes for the remake.

    By the way, episode 5 has exactly the same amount of original Starcraft sounds as episode 1.

    I don't pay attention to authors in maps unless I like them, nuff said

    Snyder was refering to unit voices, not briefings, dialogues etc... of the campaigns, that are ALL included. He would like to see ALL original unit voices in the mod (it would be great)

    #13 May 11, 2012 at 23:54 UTC - 0 likes

    Thought I understand why you would like to have SC1 original voices, I just want to remember there are a few issues:
    -It makes file size way bigger
    -the sounds lack proper lip sync (for the terran units with lips of course)
    -you force everyone to listen to english voices, which is fine by me, but may not be for other players.

    Ah yes, the "u mad? u butthurt?"-part of every thread. I really don't know what that's supposed to mean anymore.

    Sure, I get that there's a somewhat reasonable point or "complaint" in there in the middle of all the obnoxious nonsense, but I'm not going to touch it in this thread. I tried to not come here, I really did, but couldn't do it.

    And Snyder, well, that's too bad. You did directly address the authors in the OP, but that's cool, paying attention would require some effort from your part, and you're a busy man, after all. In fact, I should try to do the same and not pay attention to this thread, at least until it has some kind of a purpose.

    EDIT: Look. I don't mean to sound like I can't take criticism, or that I dislike anyone who disagrees with me/doesn't like the remake or certain things in the remake. Just this idea that we'll do whatever people tell us to do because it's not about what we want and clearly we have the time to do it... is annoying. Obviously we're not getting paid to do any of this and we're doing this primarily for our own amusement. We're selfish like that. I'm all for feedback/criticism/suggestions, all of that's great when presented in a way that's, you know, less obnoxious. And even then, don't take it for granted that we'll always necessarily give a shit.

    I love how dripping with smug entitlement this post is.

    Cans omeone tell me how to find SC1 maps?

    You know what Snyder? I agree with you. Sc1 sounds would be nice. And they should be in there. But you have to realize that you are going about convincing the map authors in the wrong way. People will not respect you or listen to you if you come at them with the kind of condescending tone and snide attitude that you've clearly conveyed. This is why people are making fun of your "sense of entitlement;" when you push at them, they push back. Next time, calmly and warmly point out the problem and I guarantee you will get a more favorable reaction.
