Idk what Blizz did but I was working on a map when I got white lines and dots, then freeze and crash. As of that moment (which was from the first times I was trying the editor after patching it), every time I enter the editor on High settings, it all freezes, WoL and HotS beta the same - I set graphics to HIGH in WoL and when I reach the Main Menu - White Lines, Blue Screen of Death, Freeze and Hard Restart
I was able to change the WoL editor settings from High to Low, haven't tested if it works on Low... WoL and HotS I can't do anything - freezes at main menu, can't even reach the Options to lower the graphics. Then again also... lowering from High to Low... wow...
I may be having ATI HD 3870 only 512MB video, 3GB DDR3 but - since 2010 for ladder I went Medium Graphics and Textures, Low Models to prevent lag due to baneling splash, in Custom Games I could play High Settings and Models: High, in Editor: High, NOW: can;t even enter..
Others also reported lag, they say launcher on background was downloading the game, well I have yet to check that
Can I set the Graphics and Texture settings in some XML or other file, since I can't do that ingame?
Whom I have contacted for buying a compatible better video card to replace my current one, for fixing the freezes happening on SC2 or for buying a new system.

usually these artifacts are caused by the vga overheat or defect
could it be a coincidence that came with the hots pach?

I used the editor very little on the day of patching, so I can say it happened affter I patched it. The fact that many got lag means they did smth, In the thread others claimed they had lag even on low settings from playing High or more. But I am the only one with a complete failure - I tested videos, may test some other game but I think it only happens when entering SC2 or the editor, not in other games.
And they increased the minimum requirements to 256 and recommended to 1GB, so unless that did it and my card is too low for that but it never behaved like that. Also they claim on the forum that the Launcher was STILL downloading when you press 'Info' and some had the lag due to that. My case may be diferent though, my video never failed before and it runs fine if I do other games.
The editor can now run when I set it to Low settings, I dont run out of memory but if you know how to configure the games outside cause I can't reach options to set them, do tell where to set the game settings.
I had those about a week ago, it got worse and worse, and guess what... my video card died. Weird huh? I hope it doesn't happen to you.
try to update your drivers and see if something changes
Alast poor graphics card i know it so well, it's worst than that jim it's dead. .... :(
The same happened to me approximately half a year ago... Basically I started seeing artifacts in games (SC2 first, but then it was in almost any 3D game) and my video card died after a few weeks. I tried baking the card (there are actually tutorials everywhere on how to do this) and it worked for a few days, but then the card was completely failing (even on the desktop). Sometimes, just reducing the screen resolution can help. I remember setting my desktop to 1024*768 and the artifacts disappeared for a while, but keep in mind that the video card is dying anyway, so... sooner or later, it will fail.

Feedback is welcome!
Updating drivers with the newer version I found was the 1st thing I did but seeing what the guys tell, it may be that:

Ohh so you cannot play both Wol and Hots? I feel ya. To prevent this I lowered Editor texture&graphics settings to Low, I think Variables.txt may contain the values which Graphics settings you use ingame. I will try to configure the file there cause I can't enter the game without it freezing.
In the past I was thinking of buying a new video card since I can't stay with 512MB but I thought - with the current way of playing Medium to High, it can wait. When this happened though, now it's a must. Maybe will go for HD4870 or HD4850 that are my only options.
Thanks guys for the warning, I will try to make it live a little longer by setting all to Low settings to not overload it, btw if you know what values in Variables.txt set your graphics, you can post the info.
@Eimtr: Go I replaced it 2 days after "her death" ;-)
you should check your GPU temperature to see if it's the cause
usually the dying of a card is caused by slow consumption of thermal paste on the GPU/FAN, you may try to replace it with a new one
I didn't download the hidden 4GB that were still downloading when you go to Info on the launcher. After downloading them, the same, it freezes when I enter Main Menu with such glitches. .. before the new patch I could play even High Settings, wtf did that patch do. Would be a very strange coincidence, more like this Patch with its increased MEMORY demand, damaged my video card.
I edited Variables.txt to set the Graphics, Textures, Models to Low for both the editor and the game. The models still do not appear low, either way I think it freezes the screen with glitches even on Low..
I can use the editor but if I zoom in and out too much on Terrain, I will get freeze as well. So I shouldn;'t load the graphics with too much Terrain display but can use triggers and Data editor... pure VIDEO FAILURE
it could be that the improved graphic requirements make your video card reach higher temperatures, sc2 has always been a resources demanding game :|
- Since 2010 when using Medium Settings so far it ran fine, when using High Settings and maps with 3rd Person camera - the fan starts sounding like wind, you know clearly loading the graphics, of course that means soemtimes you have to wait to open windows cause that loads the card too much
- After these problems occured:
• I can use the editor on Low Settings but if I start zooming in or out the terrain too much , change the places which loads the video card, I may get a freeze and these lines in the Editor
• WoL and HotS Beta: Max I can reach is Main Menu, then Lines, Dots and Freeze and that by having set Low Settings from Variables.txt that was the only way I could change the settings since I can't reach the menu to do that ingame
• WEB sites that for some reason load my graphics with their pictures or whatever may also freeze the screen
Looks to me like graphics card problem - maybe any overload that so far didn't cause freeze, this time any overload may freeze my screen. ATI HD 4850 seems to be my only good option to replace and upgarde to at least 1 GB. If I have that, would 1 GB be enough to run SC2 on High settings? I wanted to run on High ith Models: High too, well most important is to be able to play the game...
