One thing I don't like about mapster...

    Greetings fellow mapsters,

It's a great site but the one thing I really don't like is how in the Maps section the categories of a map/project can overlap. It makes it hard to browse when so many are labelled as Campaign/Tower Defense/Base Defense and so on... I really prefer a system (like hiveworkshop.com) where each map/project is only allowed into one category.

The problem is the uploaders try to fit too much information into that little space, when it should just be very general information.

If you're a mapmaker you shoulde be able to know whether your map is really a shooter with RPG elements (and label it as a shooter) or an RPG with shooter elements (and label it as a shooter). If you upload a multi-map campaign where each map has its own gametype yu should still just call it a campaign.

Hoping my suggestion is being taken into consideration, OutsiderXE

edit: OK I just had a look at "add new map". You already have a "main category" option. Now it just needs to look distinguishable from the "additional categories".

This is a Curse problem, I think. Because Mapster is a Curse site it uses the Curse database for finding projects and maps. It's not something we can easily change as it'd require the whole Curse database to change (for ALL Curse sites, if I'm correct).

But you could deactivate the additional categories, couldn't you? Meaning that uploaders are forced to choose only one category.

I'm not sure if we could. Would need a Curse coder in here to confirm something in that regard.

As Mozared said, we'd need one of the curse devs. None of the moderators are curse devs, we can't do much about how the site works, all we can do is use what we have and that's more or less only basic moderation powers.

Sixen isn't a Curse employee. Not sure if he technically ever was, even when he got paid.
