HotS 2.0.2 Editor Updates

    #1 Dec 06, 2012 at 00:46 UTC - 0 likes

The patch 2.0.2 editor updates list recently arrived. Make sure to check it out here!

We've got a lot of convince updates (back/foward buttons in the trigger editor, and data editor windows remember their view types, for example), as well as some neat new features (Maps can now be saved as interface files for easy use in the future, there is now a navigator window for the data module and a object explorer for triggers, and more). The list is pretty long, but you can find it here.

Send me a PM with any questions or comments.

Do you think they'll ever add more than 3 (somewhat 4) terrain levels? This is a must needed change...

Looking for a data editor for a tactical shooter. PM for application.

Any new stuff to datamine? Apparently there's new music, but I can't seem to find it. Didn't manage to log in yet since servers are down. Perhaps that's why I can't see the new stuff?

I was able to test the new editor before I went to bed.

My diablo map is broken in HotS. So, you might expect problems to appear when you switch over to HotS, too. :D

    editor changes/additions/fixes:
    - fixed slow saving problem I experienced before. Saving time with a trigger change was reduced to 15 from 150 seconds.
    - data module can now sort fields in the right table by Source (which equals color)
    - abilities can now use pathing range as range
    - script seems to be loaded directly into the trigger debugger
    - halo on units doesn't seem to create lag anymore when you first see the halo on a unit

    changes/compatibility problems:
    - scrollbars received different images, If you edited WoL's ones, they are now scrambled.
    - Text label colors do not work anymore. Might be bugged.
    - world console offsets aren't in gameUI anymore
    - units don't always display preselection circles anymore (my units are lifted from a negative value as base... this might be the problem)... BUT today they appear... (what the ???)
    - death animations for my units changed to explode like low models despite my extreme graphic settings
    - bnet button friend frame image doesn't exist in the original layout anymore or has other problems now
    - MinimapPanel has no Anchors for Left and Bottom anymore according to my ingame error.
    - I had a problem that a target effect ability didn't work, but now it seems to work again. (???)

    unfixed problems:
    - Tooltips in the game stay visible, if a dialog item is hidden.
    - Data editor doesn't show tooltips on the fields in the right table.

Whats a herd node? Is it related to the kerrigan campaign with units following her? Hm.. just curious

    #8 Dec 06, 2012 at 12:34 UTC - 0 likes

And nobody mentions the important part - they enabled the arcade! We need more beta keys..

Also funny that they made motherships vortex a single unit insta kill spell.

    But enough of off-topic.

    Quote from Blizz:

Dependency dialog no longer allows Multi mods to be used in conjunction with Story mods. These are designed to be mutually exclusive and could cause a variety of problems in game when combined.

I wonder if things like phoenix model have been alerted for campaign dependencies, so that we can recreate melee phoenix if we wish. Either way, what about melee mods that add campaign units, aren't they screwd because of this? :|

Maybe they mean LibertyStory and not LibertyCampaign, I hope so anyway.

    Whoa! 4.4Gb download???

Hell yeah! We can give instructions to AI allies! I had this idea looong ago I wanted to make a mod, let's see how it works.

Looks good. Now if you could only add a Single Player menu to browse your unpublished or private Maps in the Maps\ folder to do without requiring a connection because in WoL if you lose the internet connection SC2Switcher.exe or test Map will not work, says 'This map is for another game version' or smth like that.Every normal game allows you to browse your own created maps from ingame... so did War3 BW etc..

The 'sc2mapster' group is now open in the HotS beta- we'll bring it to WoL once it becomes available. The group is public, so membership does not need to be approved- just go ahead and join up! It should hopefully provide a quick and easy way to round up some testers for your games.

And these updates aren't specific to 2.0.2
EDIT: Or maybe your link is wrong? I don't think you mean to have two links to the same place.

    Good day sir!

heh, nope. I linked to it twice for double the awesomeness.

I didn't post the patch changes themselves because I didn't have time to convert the patch notes to wikicreole. I should have done what you did and just copy/pasted the html from the page source. You're a clever one ;)

I went on it, and a few Complaints.

    1. The Kerrigan Background still does no animate with the portrait setting.

    2. The groups are ridiculously Confusing to join...

    3. The melee still goes 4v4, 3v3, 2v2, 1v1

    4. The Chat channel Blocks the majority of the featured page because now it goes all the way to the bottom.

    5. The reward icons didnt show up. (bug)

    6. That stupid back button for going into Melee.. yeah thats annoying. its hard to see. :P and blends in too much and placed in a stupid place.

FINNALY. THE FUCKING CUSTOM GAMES GOT OPEN GAMES LIST AS ITS DEFAULT BUT THE FREAKIN ARCADE DOES NOT !!!!!!?>!>!>!>!>!

I realize its still a beta though, so hopefully by launch it will be all good.

Pisses me off quite a bit on that last one, that the thing we have been asking for Blizzard does the opposite... and gives it to Melee Custom games... but oh well, hope they change this for us too... Sucks they get it first...

Found the files in the update folder. Turns out aside from the new music, there's some new small interesting stuff. I saw textures for "cyber water" (and "energy ripples", I'm assuming this is all for BlizzDotA, since they said it would have a virtual theme to its tileset(s)), for a "Collapsible Terran Tower" and for a Zerus Chrysalis base.

I've attached a few texture files I've found. Nothing else that's interesting or new...

I find the Hydralisk with the Dominion insigna intriguing. Perhaps this could imply Dominion-controlled Zerg broods? Not that it would be surprising, judging what happened in BW.

Considering Mengsk had that control thing over Kerrigan in the 'leaked ending', I wouldn't be surprised if he found out a way to control the Zerg again. He did it once before with the Psi Emitter, the UED's used drugs before to control the Overmind, now I'm sure Mengsk has poured enough money into researching a surefire way to keep the Zerg controlled.

    Till Kerrigan kills him.

If you mean the background.. it requires Model Quality: High... I personally because playing 1v1 and since WoL many baneling die = mass lag gg terran army... had to go Low. On my own Mission Maps, I do play High settings and Models: High to animate Kerrigan

I am AMAZED! - even on LOW MODELS some units display their death into pieces animation! That's great but I hope it wont lag cause that's why I chose Low Models...

Speaking of which... I rly wanted to see ANIMATED PORTRAITS like in War3... but yeah I know this was the least problem around brining features back. I hope they do it in the future

Yeha I expressed this concern with a blizz dev and he said they were looking into it, it must not be very high on the list

I don't know how to talk to these blizzard devs, but next time you do you should emphasize the terrain level problem hahaha.
