First Person Camera trouble

What is the best route to go when making a first person camera? When I set the camera to be at about proper head height, the unit gets in the way. If I offset the camera ahead of the unit, it inverts all my controls and the mouse. Any tips on the best route to go?

If you make a single player, then just make the unit behind it invisible / very very small.

If you make a multi player, then you'll have to go with offsetting the camera. I don't know how you set-up your system, but there must be a reason why everything is inverted. Just correct that and it should be fine again.
Or instead of offsetting the camera to the front, why not offset the unit to the back. (it depends on what center point you're using for your system).

There is no way of making units only transparent to one player is there? I'm simply curious as that would fix the problem and also allow for map effects similar to 'phasing' in MMOs.

You can make units transparent only for all players. Unfortunately.

If you download GAx3 and add it as a dependency you will be able to show an actor to only specific players.
