ive searched and searched the internet, some have said to increase field of view, some have said to change sount data... NOTHING HAS HELPED...
There are endless boxes to change in the sound data of Default SC2 UI Settings...i have NO idea what to change in it and i dont feel like spending several hours sifting through all of the boxes, and when i change field of view...nothing happens... So what can i do to maintain sound volume while zoomed out alot?
I can tell you which boxes to change, but I really suggest trying to get "Field of View" to work. At extreme distances this makes the game look warped (like so far it usually starts your machine chugging anyways). Field of view allows you to change the level of zoom without messing up sound data. After messing with sound data you will hear shit that's really far away even while you are zoomed in, but with field of view it feels much more natural. I am not sure why it isn't working for you, its quite simple to do.
I took a screenshot of how it looks in my map in case that helps.
But if you really want to use distance instead I will tell you what to change. Go into Data, and open up a new tab using the Advanced Data >> Game UI Data tab.
Click on Default SC2 UI Settings. Go down to Sound Data and double click it. You should now see a bunch of different sound effect types, like Ambient, Death, Spell, Combat etc. There is one called Master Effects, I am not sure if that changes all of them like it sounds like it should, maybe give that a try first, but if that doesn't work what you do is go into each individual sound effect type and change one number.
You will see something that says Volume Rolloff Points, with two indexes, one for distance and one for volume. The distance index will probably show 30.0000
Change the 30.0000 to whatever you want. The higher the number the further the sound will travel before it goes away.
I took a screenshot of what you need to change, hopefully this helps.
Can you tell me how to apply this to the default camera? So it starts at a set zoom but still keeps the sound .
Found it, from Camera - Default Camera - (Basic) UI: Zoom Levels +
From there I enabled the Field of View and changed the Value.
Works great !
