Swap the launch and impact values on the beam. You can create a beam for an effect without an Action actor.

hmm no mater how i swap the fields the result is either very bugged or dont work at all.

I dont use any action actor, its just a beam actor.

This is the closest i have come so far. It creates 2 beams that start and end at both the target and caster, why it does like this, i dont know. Its like the mineral is using the gather ability :/

The logical answer how it should look when looking at my settings is that it create only 1 beam that start and end at the caster but it does not...

The little psi cloud you see is the inpact part if the arhcon beam,

I added a term to the event and then i can make it to 1 beam but i cant seam to target the beam to the mineral, i can only self target and get the result in the picture i just showed you but only on the unit.

Set impact to caster and launch to target (specify the effect).

    @DrSuperEvil: Go

Yes but how exacly? whatever i try dont work ;(

If you thinking about doing as the graviton beam then that dont work. That was the first ability i was looking at.

Is there some way to create a dummy effect when gathering that i can refer to?

I shall need a pic of your actor events and a pic of the fields that does not have compressed fields mode enabled.

Set impact to caster plain and simple. Implicit.

Set launch to target, actor find then your effect.

Set launch to target, actor find then your effect..... effect?

You did not listen to a thing I said did you?

Set the Hosting: Host Impact - Actor to implicit

Set Hosting: Host Impact - Scope to implicit

Set Hosting: Host Impact - Subject to Caster

Set Hosting: Host Launch - Scope to Scope Target

Finally set Hosting: Host Launch - Effect to whatever effect you are using to create the beam (preferably one you target the target with).

Sound good and logic what you say but...

Set Hosting: Host Impact - Subject to Caster

I cant find "caster" anywhere in any list, am i to assume i have to select custom and type it?

    Hosting: Host Launch - Effect

Ok ok link to the effect, what effect is used when the ability "probe - gather" is used?

By caster I was refering to the casting actor.

So you want the beam to be made by an ability?

Might need a small work around. Have a hidden Model type actor be created on the target of the effect that on actor creation creates the beam between the two actors.
