Looking for a place where I find fee spaceship models

    I have my space themed rts map called: The Final Frontier, I am looking 12 spaceship models for it.
    I already searched the net a bit, but didnt find anything nice.
    I dont want anything fancy, but I dont want crap either.
    So did any one see on the internet any nice spaceship models for free to use?

    I see tons in the cortex maps, theres a cortex mod out there, download that and Export the models from it.

    @Taintedwisp: Go I didnt find any imported model in Cortex and I know about those models you linked.
    I was hoping someone links an link outside sc2. (I could conver the models myself if needed, also textures arent important. Sc2 textures can look pretty good on random models.

    Have you tried to modify sc2 models? You can press, pull, deform 'em in any direction. They are like a clay, and starships have simple forms, so you can create a realy complicated and cool looking models. For example, I created this miner model from a zealot:

    Tons of free models. 3DS up from 2011 does a good job importing .skp files

    be warned, they are pretty heavy on polygons

    I import them to 3ds max, then modify mesh by moving vertexes mostly, then export back to the editor.

    you can try checking http://www.turbosquid.com/ (set 0 in pricerange for free models) or http://thefree3dmodels.com/
    But the models might vary in quality, polycount, and texture.

    Might want to go with Zolden's suggestion and edit existing model geometry and textures.
    Animations should remain as long as you do not ADD any polys (scale, move, rotate, and delete are fine)

    @sigmapl: Go There are some nice models, but I dont want high poly and many would need additional work like engine fire and so on...
    So I think I will stick with Zolden's suggestion.

    Unfortunately, Thrikordas (Used to be Delirium) doesn't share his cortex models.... he has a private mod he uses to import them so no one can use them...

    Sad story yes, he's so selfish...

    @SnyderGuy: Go I don't remember any custom ships in Cortex.

    Anyway, some of the civilian vehicles would make awesome ships after some changes. I mean the ones with team color that hover around.

    @SnyderGuy: Go Can you tell me the name of the units? I think I'll just play cortex to check them ;-)

    Here, this is one of the vehicles I was talking about.... Removing the particle emitters would be necessary to make it look more like a ship, and maybe add the engines.
